The Russian military’s Sever (North) Group of Forces has defeated several formations of Kiev forces in the Kursk direction, killing or wounding hundreds of troops.
In its November 27 briefing, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that Ukraine’s 21st, 41st, 44th, 47th mechanised brigades, 17th Heavy Mechanised Brigade, 5th Tank Brigade, 80th, 82nd, 95th air assault brigades, 36th Marine Brigade, 112th, 116th, 117th, and 129th territorial defence brigades took heavy losses close to the settlements of Aleksandriya, Viktorovka, Daryino, Lebedevka, Leonidovka, Nizhny Klin, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Nikolsky, Novoivanovka, Plyokhovo, and Sverdlikovo.
The ministry also reported Russian air and artillery strikes on gatherings of Kiev forces close to the settlements of Bondarevka, Guyevo, Kazachya Loknya, Kurilovka, Martynovka, Novaya Sorochina, Plyokhovo, and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye in Kursk as well as near the settlements of Basovka, Belovody, Zhuravka, Pavlovka, and Yunakovka in the neighboring Ukrainian region of Sumy.
“Over the past 24 hours, the AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] losses amounted to more than 250 troops. Russian units destroyed two tanks, an infantry fighting vehicle, an armoured personnel carrier, two armoured fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, and a mortar,” the ministry detailed in its briefing.
Separately, videos posted to social networks showed some of the Russian strikes that hit Kiev forces in the Kursk direction over the last few days.
Kiev forces launched a surprise attack from Sumy into Kursk last August. The Russian military has been conducting a counter-attack to clear the region since September. So far, nearly half of the occupied territories in Kursk have been liberated.
According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 36,010 troops, 223 tanks, 157 infantry fighting vehicles, 122 armored personnel carriers, 1,199 armored fighting vehicles, 1,038 motor vehicles, 304 artillery guns, 40 launchers, including 11 American-made HIMARS and six MLRS systems, 13 air defense systems, seven transport-loading vehicles, 70 electronic warfare stations, 13 counter-battery radars, four aerial radars, 27 engineering vehicles, including 13 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, six armored recovery vehicle, and one command post vehicle.
