Russian Army Reaches Key Road North Of Pokrovsk, Enters Another Town Along Yanchur (Videos)

On October 23, the Russian military reached a key road north of the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk direction, and entered another settlement along the Yanchur River in the Dnepropetrovsk direction.

In Donetsk, the Tsentr [Center] Group of Forces broke through Ukrainian defenses in Rodynske, located a few kilometers to the north of Pokrovsk, capturing most of the settlement southern part, and reaching the road to its west. This road links Pokrovsk with Dobropillia further to the north. It is one of the last remaining roads that Kiev has been using to supply its forces in Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad and nearby areas.

Russian troops have reportedly taken over buildings overlooking the road. However, it is unclear yet if they managed to block it. It’s worth noting that the road has been under the first of Russian drone units for a while now.

In addition to the breakthrough in Rodynske, the Tantra Group of Forces made gains to the east and southeast of Myrnohrad.

Ukrainian defenses in Pokrovsk and its surroundings are slowly collapsing. The recent development there may be the start of an unorganized withdrawal by Kiev forces.

Moving west to Dnepropetrovsk, the Vostok [East] Group of Forces expanded its control along the Yanchur River by entering Yehorivka after a successful attack from Pryvillya. Heavy clashes are reportedly taking place there, as well as little to the south in Zlahoda.

Russian troops are also advancing further to the south along the river in Zaporizhzhia, mainly near Uspenivka, Novomykolaivka and Okhotnyche. The recent capture of Pavlivka was critical for the success of the Vostok Group of Forces along this part of the river. New footage from the battle there has been released.

The entire Ukrainian line of defense along the Yanchur will likely be secured by the Vostok Group of Forces within a few weeks, if not days.

To the west in Zaporizhzhia, battles continue to the south of Orikhiv. A large part of Mala Tokmachka remains under the control of the Vostok Group of Forces, which stormed the settlement in a surprise attack just a few days earlier. Ukrainian drone units intensified strikes on Russian troops there in an attempt to push them out, but to no avail.

Russian troops also made additional gains to the north of Robotyne, located to the southwest of Mala Tokmachka, moving closer to Novodanylivka.

The battle in Mala Tokmachka has begun to affect Ukrainian defenses in nearby areas. A bit to the west, the Vostok Group of Forces managed to break through the lines of Kiev forces to the south of Stepnohirsk, capturing most of the settlement’s southern outskirts after weeks of fighting.

More advance is to be expected there as well as along the Yanchur River if the battle goes on in Mala Tokmachka, as Kiev forces will likely prioritize the defense of Orikhiv.

Overall, Kiev forces are clearly failing to effectively defend their lines. Shortages, especially when it comes to manpower, in addition to the lack of any strategic planning on the higher levels are the key factors. Kiev is working to solve neither of these problems, thus more collapse is to be expected. The next blow to Ukraine will clearly take place in Pokrovsk.
