Russian Army Repels Massive Ukrainian Attack, Intercepts 120 Drones (Videos)

The Russian military repelled over the night of June 20 and 21 a massive Ukrainian attack, shooting down 114 aerial drones and destroying six uncrewed boats in the Black Sea, the Russian Defense Ministry announced.

In a statement, the ministry said that an “attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack using unmanned boats and airplane-type UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicles] on Russian infrastructure,” was foiled.

At least 70 drones were intercepted by Russian air defenses over the Crimean Peninsula. Another 43 drones were downed over the Krasnodar region, while one drone was intercepted in the Volgograd region, according to the ministry, which also said that the Russian Navy’s Black Sea Fleet tracked down and destroyed six uncrewed boats.

In the city of Krasnodar, a boiler facility near the Yuzhny bus terminal was damaged. One worker was killed in the attack, and several more were injured, the region’s governor Veniamin Kondratyev wrote on Telegram

Drones damaged several administrative buildings on the territory of an oil refinery in another part of the city, according to the governor.

Later in the morning of June 21, the Russian MoD said in two separate statements that three more drones were intercepted over the Bryansk region and another over the region of Belgorod. No casualties or damage was reported in the two regions.

This was Ukraine’s largest drone attack on Russian territory this year so far. Despite causing some losses in Krasnodar, the attack mostly failed thanks to the quick and professional reaction of Russian air defenses and naval forces.

The Kiev regime intensified attacks on Russia in recent months, damaging infrastructure and killing and wounding a number of civilians.

In response, the Russian military resumed group strikes on military and energy infrastructure targets in Ukraine. It also stepped up offensive operations in the directions of Donetsk, Kharkiv and several others, capturing more territory from Kiev forces.
