The Russian military had repelled another wave of Ukrainian attacks in several directions, according to the August 31 briefing of the Russian Ministry of Defenses.
In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian Zapad Group of Forces improved the situation along the frontline and repelled five counter-attacks by Ukraine’s 68th separate jaeger, 32nd and 43rd mechanized brigades near Sergeevka and Novoegorovka.
The ministry said that Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 50 troops, two motor vehicles, one Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer and two D-20 towed howitzers. In addition,an ammunition depot of the 66th Mechanised Brigade was destroyed close to Petrovskoye.
In the Donetsk direction, the Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled six attacks near Bogdanovka, Andreevka, Mayorsk and Avdeevka.
Kiev forces lost 365 troops, three American-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, two armored personnel carriers, 32 motor vehicles, one Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer, as well as two D-20 and D-30 towed howitzers during the fighting in this direction, according to the ministry.
An ammunition depot of the 54th Mechanised Brigade of Kiev forces was also targeted and destroyed in the outskirts of Veseloye.
In the Zaporozhye direction, five attacks by Ukraine’s 82nd Air Assault Brigade were repelled close to Verbovoye. During the fighting, 85 Ukrainian troops, two motor vehicles, one American-made M777 towed howitzer, one Czech-made Vampire multiple rocket launcher and three D-30 towed howitzers were neutralized.
The ministry also said that an ammunition depot of Ukraine’s 47th Mechanised Brigade was targeted and destroyed close to Orekhov.
In the Krasny Liman direction, the Russian Tsentr Group of Forces repelled two attacks by the 67rd Mechanised Brigade of Kiev forces close to Chervonaya Dibrova.
Up to 55 Ukrainian troops were killed in this direction, the ministry said, adding that three armored fighting vehicles, one Msta-B and one D-30 towed howitzers were destroyed.
In the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Vostok Group of Forces targeted Ukrainian gathering of manpower and equipment near Staromayorskoye and Urozhaynoye. The strikes neutralized 100 Ukrainian troops, four motor vehicles, two Msta-B towed howitzers and one U.S.-made M119 towed howitzer. In addition, an ammunition depot of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade of Kiev forces was destroyed close to Ugledar.
Meanwhile in the Kherson direction, Kiev forces lost 20 troops, two motor vehicles and two D-30 towed howitzers as a result of Russian military fire. An ammunition depot of the 121th Territorial Defence Brigade was also destroyed close to Mikhailovka.
The Russian MoD also provided the following details during briefing:
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Group of Forces have engaged AFU manpower and hardware in 128 areas during the day.
One Ukrainian S-200 surface-to-air missile system has been neutralized near Slavyansk (Donetsk People’s Republic).
A command post and a military field training camp of the AFU 72nd Mechanised Brigade were eliminated close to Ugledar and Selidovo (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Air defense forces shot down two HIMARS MLRS shells, two JDAM guided bombs, and two HARM anti-radiation missiles during the day.
Furthermore, during the day, 32 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, including Tu-141 Strizh, were intercepted over the settlements of Kovalevka, Golikovo (Lugansk People’s Republic), Soledar, Blagodatnoye (Donetsk People’s Republic), Mirnoye, Novoukrainka, Tokmak (Zaporozhye region), and Obryvka (Kherson region).
In total, 466 airplanes and 247 helicopters, 6,266 unmanned aerial vehicles, 434 air defense missile systems, 11,578 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,147 combat vehicles equipped with MRLS, 6,145 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 12,570 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.
In addition, Russian news sources shared videos showing recent strikes with Lancet loitering munitions and FPV suicide drones from several directions across the frontline. The strikes targeted troops and equipment of Kiev forces.
Kiev forces have made very limited gains and sustained heavy losses since launching their counteroffensive more than eleven weeks ago. Despite the bad results, the Kiev regime appears to be determined to go on with the counteroffensive at all costs.
