On August 31, the Russian military foiled three attempts by Kiev forces to target the regions of Moscow and Bryansk with suicide drones.
A Ukrainian drone was shot down while flying towards Moscow in the early morning, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“Yet another terrorist attack by the Kiev regime against facilities on Russian soil with the use of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was thwarted. Air defenses on duty destroyed a UAV over the Voskresensk district of the Moscow region,” the ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, a foiled drone attack was reported by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin who said, citing preliminary information, that there were no casualties or damage.
Later in the morning, the ministry reported that a second drone was shot down by Russian air defense over the Bryansk region.
“At about 10:00 a.m. Moscow time on August 31, another attempt by the Kiev regime to attack facilities on Russian soil with the use of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was foiled. Air defense forces on duty destroyed the UAV over the Bryansk Region,” the ministry said.
Bryansk governor Alexander Bogomaz said earlier that a total of three drones had been destroyed over his region. However, he didn’t report any casualties.
At midday, another Ukrainian suicide drone was shot down over the Bryansk region, according to the ministry. No losses were reported.
The new wave of drone attacks on Russian territory came following reports of heavy Ukrainian losses in several directions within the special military operation zone.
Yaroslav Yakimkin, a spokesman for the Russian Zapad Group of Forces, told TASS on August 31 that the battlegroup had repelled six attacks by Kiev forces in the direction of Kupyansk.
“In the Kupyansk area, forward units of the Battlegroup West repelled six enemy’s counter attacks. The battlegroup’s warplanes delivered 15 strikes on the enemy manpower and vehicles,” he said.
According to the spokesman, Russian artillery and other heavy weapons wiped out three Ukrainian mortar positions near the settlements of Novoyegoryevka, Kulagovka, Tabayevka, and Stelmakhovka.
“Air defense systems destroyed two unmanned aerial vehicles, Sinitsa and Leleka-100, near Sofiyevka and Zhiglovka. The enemy’s overall losses amounted to two platoons,” Yakimkin added.
On the same day, the Russian Dnepr Group of Forces announced that it had targeted temporary deployment points of Kiev forces in the Veletenskoye direction
The group also wiped out several D-30 towed howitzers and Grad BM-21 multiple rocket launches close to Kizomys and Goncharnoye. A total of 15 Ukrainian troops were eliminated by the group’s fire.
In addition, the group targeted several command posts and one American-made M777 towed howitzer with Lancet loitering munition.
And in the direction of Kherson, the group destroyed two Ukrainian howitzers, according to a spokesman for the regional emergency services.
“Units of the [Russian] Dnepr battlegroup inflicted damage on the enemy by firepower in the Kherson area, destroying a 2S1 Gvozdika motorized artillery system with ammunition and its three-member crew and a Ukrainian army temporary deployment site -casualties: 12 Ukrainian soldiers were killed and eight others received wounds of varying severity- and knocking out four motor vehicles,” the spokesman said.
The group also destroyed a Ukrainian D-30 towed howitzer in the Kakhovka direction, the spokesman said, adding that a 120 mm mortar deployed in the island zone was targeted.
Meanwhile in the direction of Bakhmut, Russian airborne troops repelled yet another attack by Kiev forces, according to the Russian MoD.
“UAVs of Russian airborne troops detected areas of deployment of Ukrainian militants in the forest near the city of Artyomovsk [Bakhmut]. Their coordinates were conveyed to the artillery command post and an artillery strike was delivered. An enemy infantry group trying to find shelter in the forest was neutralized by targeted fire from howitzers. The enemy was demoralized and retreated leaving their dead and wounded in the forest,” the ministry said in a statement.
The MoD also announced that Russian Buk-M3 medium-range air defense systems had engaged Ukrainian aerial attack weapons in the direction of Krasny Liman.
“Duty crews of the Battlegroup Center’s systems spotted an aerial target approaching guarded facilities. The crew of a Buk-M3 system fired a guided missile and hit the enemy aerial attack weapon at a long distance,” the ministry said, giving no details of the target.
In the Zaporozhye, Kiev forces sustained heavy losses while attempting to push forward. Video footage released by Russian and Ukrainian news sources showed a number of destroyed or damaged American-made Stryker armored fighting vehicles, British-made Wolfhound mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles and T-72 main battle tanks.
Overall, the Ukrainian counteroffensive appears to be heading towards complete failure. Kiev’s attempts to salvage the counteroffensive by pushing more troops on the front and increasing attacks on Russian territory does not appear to be working.

not long ago i couldn’t view the site, something about “word press zero spam” wasn’t allowing me. is this happening to anyone else on here?
does anyone remember when the us/uk/eu wouldn’t sell technology which would allow ukraine to target russian territory? as if i believed for one second they would keep their word. as long as millions flow into mic coffers and not into building hospitals or infrastructure, that’s all that matters
as the ukrainians keep on failing the west becomes ever more desperate for some success, so they keep on giving more and more weapons to the ukraine with which it can do stupid sh1t. because the west is now being run by radicals while the sane people seem to be sitting in moscow.
militant western leaders should probably save some of their military junk to kill their citizens should they object to global government.
the west’s cull started in 2020, and 90% of its citizens rolled up their sleeves voluntarily. who needs military junk when the state has a compliant media?
90%? that’s good news. it was high time to get rid of these western idiots. for too long they have raped the whole world. offspring of a celtic and frankish and goth hordes who invaded europe. as andrea bocceli would sing ” time to say goodbye…
why is it good news? are you another armchair racist/fascist? it is the elites of all stripes who continue to exploit the world’s resources not the working citizens, who (like the poor ukr servicemen) are merely used as cannon (or vax) fodder. 100% of the elites weren’t vaxxed, they had different serial numbers in the vials.
the site is on a much better server now. congratulations and thank you for all the hard work.
rus is being pinned back by its own lack of meaningful strategic progress. cheap drones are being countered by expensive weaponry, and copious notes are being taken by a resurgent nato. the red, w & b flag should have been flying over both kiev and odessa long ago – and all ukr drone production and launch sites flattened.
should we forget that ukraine’s army is in a state of total default? what resurgent nato? what is resurging with them? a secret attempts of an exit strategy? for which russians don’t have much ear.
open your eyes. the rus smo has been in stasis, at best, for months. instead of gaining ground it is backing off. instead of securing donbass borders it is surrendering territory and sacrificing donetsk to protect crimea. ukr-nato should have been obliterated, but weapons are still arriving and striking russia daily. the nazis are still in power and rus hasn’t a clue.
it is called being on the strategic defense. they’re just sitting there while they let the mighty ukrainian army bleed itself to death. 2 months of the ukrainians running blindly into the russian buzzsaw. in this war, with full drone surveillance and no means to achieve full strategic surprise the attacker is at a serious disadvantage.
what were the stated aims of the smo again? i don’t recall any mention of giving away swathes of donbass, with the resultant loss of life, in order to build defensive trenches to primarily defend crimea from nato (once rus had given nato time to build its forces). meanwhile to keep supplying energy to ukr nazi regime (and enemy states) while releasing captured azov murderers. smart eh?
je pekné, že banderovské fašistické svine dostávajú na búdku!!!
benderovke fasistitiscke svine prdá ga hrdà! lòlèk i bólék!
i hope if the russians ever end up paving real roads in some of these vehicle kill zones they actually call them bradley square and striker square and leopard square and humvee square. that would be amusing .
