Russian Army Takes Over Eastern Kupyansk (Videos)

On November 11, the Russian military advanced in the city of Kupyansk in Kharkiv as Kiev forces launched more desperate counterattacks.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced in a brief statement that the 6th Army, a part of the Zapad [West] Group of Forces, had imposed full control of the eastern part of Kupyansk.

Earlier, a commander, who gave his call sign as “Hunter” and identified himself as being in charge of Russia’s 1486th Motorized Rifle Regiment’s assault detachment, said his forces had taken control of an oil depot in the eastern part of Kupyansk.

“Dzerzhinsky Street has been cleared of Ukrainian Armed Forces militants, and the oil depot on the eastern outskirts of Kupyansk has been captured. The railway stations Olivino and East Arrival Park have been fully taken under control and liberated from the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” Hunter said in a video shared by the Russian MoD.

“The squad is conducting combat operations to clear the Kupyansk Sorting railway station. We are striking enemy positions in the area of the settlement Kupyansk-Uzlovoy,” he added.

Reports from a day earlier said that Russian troops entered the Bakery Plant and a number of other enterprises in the industrial zone in the eastern part of Kupyansk.

The troops also made additional gains in the southern part of the city, namely in the area of Kolontaivka, according to the same reports.

Later in its daily briefing, the Russian MoD said that Zapad Group of Forces foiled an attack by Ukraine’s 1st National Guard Brigade which was meant to relieve troops trapped in an area close to Kupyansk-Uzlovoy, right to the south of Kupyansk.

“Up to 60 troops, 16 pieces of military hardware have been neutralised, including five armoured fighting vehicles, one counter-fire radar station, three electronic warfare stations, and five pickup trucks,” the ministry said.

The minister also shared footage showing an attack with FPV drones on five infantry fighting vehicles of Kiev forces close to Kupyansk.

This video and several others that emerged in the last 24 hours show that the drone units of the Zapad Group of Forces are becoming more active around the city.

Ukraine is poised to lose a lot from a defeat in Kupyansk. Its defenses to the east, southeast and south of the city could collapse within a few weeks. Kiev could end up losing everything to the east of the Oskil River, at least down to Kolisnykivka.
