The Russian military had successfully tested the new Sapfir electronic warfare system in the special operation zone in Ukraine, a source in the defense industry told TASS on July 31.
According to the unnamed source, the system was used to shield engineering units from drone attacks during fortification works.
“The Sapfir system has been tested in the special operation area. It was employed to shield engineering units engaged in fortification works from attacks by drones. The system proved very effective and the personnel did not leave for the area of accomplishing their objectives without it,” the source told the Russian news agency.
The Sapfir detects and identifies enemy drones automatically. The electronic warfare system then sends a warning and activates jamming.
The system has a detection range of up to 30 kilometers and can engage drones from up to five kilometers. It is also capable of jamming ground-based drone control stations.
Kiev forces have been using light and ultralight commercial and military drones to monitor and attack Russian forces since the start of the special operation. Russia has been working to improve its electronic warfare means to address this threat.
On August 1, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that 5,402 Ukrainian drones have been shot down by air defense systems and electronic warfare means since the start of the operation in Ukraine.

i guess it was more exactly : the us had ordered the uk to order ukraine to ask the uk to help to invade crimea like in the bay of pigs. but if we all know it allready , then the russians will most probably know it too lol. and they will be waiting for the “special forces” with the welcome gift. it’s something stupid due to nato strategy , which i don’t understand : to announce the counter offensive half a year before it happens and then to wonder why it fails.
