On October 14th, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed control of the village of Levadnoe in the Zaporozhie region.
According to the official report, the village was captured by servicemen of the Russian Vostok (East) group of forces, which is operating in the Southern Donetsk, Ugledar and Zaporozhie region.
The village of Levadnoe is located in the field area southwest of the town of Velika Novoselka. It was captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine during their counteroffensive in 2023. As a result of heavy battles, the village turned into ruins and the Ukrainian military suffered heavy losses in the area. The frontlines were straightened south of the village.
Russian military sources first reported Russian control of the village on October 12th, 2024. Russian flag was raised on the northern outskirts of the village. Unofficial Ukrainian reporters confirmed the loss of Levadnoe as well as of the Ukrainian stronghold nearby and retreat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian assault lasted less than a day. Russian forces rapidly broke through Ukrainian defense and Ukrainians were forces to retreat. Ukrainian military observers complained that the Ukrainian command was ready for Russian attacks but this turned out to be a lie.

The southern Zaporozhie front starts moving in different directions. The advance in the area of Levadnoe is of great strategic importance, as it paves the way for further Russian offensive and expansion of Russian control zone, while Kiev is dreaming of counteroffensive in the MSM.
