An official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major-General Igor Konashenkov, told which routes can be used by humanitarian convoys in Aleppo.

According to him, one of the routes can be sent from the Turkish city of Gaziantep to the eastern districts of the city of Aleppo on the Castello road, while another one – to the western areas of the city.

In addition, he said that the Russian Defense Ministry is ready to support an offer of Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, on the introduction of a weekly 48-hour ‘humanitarian pause’ to confirm the safety of cargo delivery to civilians in the Syrian city.

“The Russian Federation is ready to assist in the coordination of security issues of the UN humanitarian convoys during its passing through the territory controlled by the government troops,” Konashenkov said.

He also stressed that that the Defense Ministry expects similar guarantees from the US during convoys’ passing through the territories controlled by the so-called moderate opposition.

The Major-General clarified that a precise date and time of the humanitarian corridors’ opening will be determined after receiving a confirmation of the security guarantees from the American partners.

Of course, humanitarian pauses are a good thing. But the question of how this will be implemented remains open. How to ensure the delivery of aid only to civilians, but not to terrorists? Several days ago, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, said that the previous 72-hour humanitarian pause, announced by Russia and the US, resulted in “a slight relief of the humanitarian situation” and “increasing the number of terrorists by 7,000 people, not to mention the huge amount of weapons and ammunition.” Is Russia consistent in its statements, or, maybe, it is just a public play?

On July 28, Russia and Syria announced the launch of a large-scale humanitarian operation in Aleppo. In its framework, the city population receives food, medicines and other forms of assistance. Also, four humanitarian corridors were opened. Three of them are used by civilians for leaving the city, while the fourth one is intended for terrorists, who decided to lay down their arms.

As the First Deputy of the Chairman of the Council of the Federation Committee on Foreign Affairs, Vladimir Jabbarov, told to the Izvestiya newspaper earlier, after this, an operation to clean up Aleppo from the remaining terrorists should be launched.

Russia should stop this “humanitarian pause” and similar moral posturing crap and focus on WINNING THE WAR without any more delay and agony. The jihadis and their backers don’t give a damn about humanitarian values. If the jihadi armies were about to take Damascus or Latakia right now, do you think they would stop for “humanitarian pauses” or spare the lives of pro-government civilians?

Grieved

This is not a bad thing. There is now good reportage of the way this will work – Mercouris at The Duran and Flores at Fort Russ have broken this down. The aid will pass through routes controlled by Syria. The contents will be inspected by Russia. Everything will be recorded by the UN. The US will agree to these conditions or it will not happen, and the US will have to explain why.

A respite every week is good to give the allied forces a break. It enables many gains – it’s a good way to fight a battle.

Russia has not sold out anyone, nor has she fallen for a US trick. Russia has laid the paper trail that now forces all negotiations into a mandate for guarantees. Syria and Russia have no problems with guarantees – it’s a weak point of the US however, and one is defeated through one’s weak points.

End of obama regime = end of syrian war.

Only 4 more months to go.

Antikapitalista

Exactly!

The fact that this acceptance was preceded by such an hitherto unheard-of statement by Sergej Viktorovič Lavrov, is a sure sign that Russia will make damn sure that none of the previous trickery shall happen again!
