The Russian military has destroyed yet another American-made M1A1 SA Abrams main battle tank of Kiev forces while advancing to the northwest of the city of Avdeevka in the Donetsk direction.
The tank was first disabled by an FPV suicide drone at night then finished off by a second drone in the morning, according to a video posted to social networks on June 11. Another video that surfaced online on June 12 showed fire in the rear of the tank’s turret where the ammunition storage and the auxiliary power unit are located.
Ukraine received 31 Abrams from the United States over the past year. Russian media sources claim that more than a third of the tanks have already been destroyed or damaged. All the losses were near Avdeevka.
The total cost of the Abrams can vary, and can be over $10 million per a single tank when including training and sustainment.
Ukraine withdrew all Abrams tanks from the front earlier this year as the result of the excessive use of drones by the Russian military, which made it too difficult for the tanks to operate without detection or coming under attack, according to The Associated Press. However, the rapid advance of the Russian military near Avdeevka forced Kiev forces to redeploy the tanks.
A recent report by CNN acknowledged that the tank performed poorly in Ukraine and revealed that Kiev forces have been struggling just to keep their remaining Abrams operational.
The failure of the Abrams in Ukraine was not surprising as the tank suffered serious losses in Iraq and Yemen before. However, this failure was without a doubt embarrassing for both the U.S. and the Kiev regime who promoted the tank as a game changing weapon.

it would have been funnier if russians took out the abrams with a captured javelin.
i think they’ll stick with what works.
i wonder if advent of drone technology is making expensive armour and artillery obsolete. industry likes to produce what it has geared-up to produce (and sell), but times are changing – war is changing. one cannot argue with a bullet (or missile), but as far as the big stuff times are changing. i would think that a video game could be used to test the concept – choose your weapon.
the iraqi army killed 23 abrams and many more did not survive the sand. the western media hype on these makes them trophies but their flaws should limit them to parades
blacktail defences you tube channel has done a big series about the m1 and its short comings, and the bradley which was designed to work with it, and both turned out to be expensive tracked turkeys.
eapu fire and engine oil compartment. tank is a goner
almost the half lost … 31-14= 17
the us air force would be equally ineffective in ukraine and their stealth bombers and f-35s would fall out of the sky and burn
outdated junk driven by old second rate conscript soldiers. yet the khokols manage to inflict heavy losses on the ruszions. can you imagine what the losses would be if the ruszions had to deal with nato? that’s why trembling putina threatens with nuclear weapons.
would the russians deal with nato the same way that the stone-aged goat-herd taliban did? that is, by sending them running? thanks for derping.
you mean the wet behind the ears nato fighters? and what will motivate them, gay parades?
i ony have senile nazi thought
the list will be endless….wake up kamikaze tank commanders fcol

are you having sex with mum or dad tonight so i know who i am sleeping with jens.
the abrams m1 is the modern day equivalent of the ww2 german panzerkampfwagen tiger ausf. b, and both tanks have never lived up to their respective hype.
