Russian Drones Continue To Hunt Down Ukraine's New M109 Howitzers (Videos)

The Russian military continues to hunt down Kiev forces’ new M109 self-propelled 155 mm howitzers with loitering munitions.

On February 14 and 15, videos documenting strikes on two Ukrainian M109 howitzers in the special military zone surfaced online. The first howitzer was targeted with a KUB-BLA loitering munition, while the second was targeted with the more capable Lancet.

Both the KUB-BLA and Lancet were developed by the ZALA Aero Group, a subsidiary of Russian defense giant Kalashnikov.

The KUB-BLA, which is equipped with a GLONASS-aided inertial navigation system, has an endurance of 30 minutes. On the other hand, the basic version of the Lancet has an endurance of up to 40 minutes. The loitering munition is also equipped with an electro-optical targeting system.

Kiev forces have received at least 50 M109-type howitzers from its allies since the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.

In May 2022, Norway donated 22 M109A3GNs to Ukraine. In June, the United Kingdom purchased 22 ex-Belgium M109A4s and later supplied them to Kiev forces. Later in August, Latvia provided six M109A5Ös. The older A1-A4 versions of the M109 have a maximum range of 18 kilometers with regular rounds, while the newer A5-A7 versions have a firing range of more than 21 kilometers with regular rounds and can fire M982 Excalibur precision-guided rounds with a range of 40 kilometers. The howitzer has a rate of fire of one round per minute.

More M109-type howitzers will be delivered to Ukraine in the near future. Early on in January, the United States pledged to provide Kiev forces with 18 of the howitzer’s latest version, the M109A6 Paladin.

Many of Ukraine’s new M109-type howitzers have been already damaged or destroyed by the Russian military, mainly with loitering munitions.

Less than three decades after the fall of the USSR, liberals are currently in real danger of losing its Great Power status. The disastrous invasion of Ukraine has exposed their internal weaknesses and sparked an unprecedented collapse of liberal influence throughout the Western Liberal Empire. It is clearly in the interests of the democratic world to encourage this process of liberal mperialism retreat. The transformation of liberal transgenderism to a national identity into a post-liberal and post-Leninist form would pave the way for a new era of European peace and productivity. The ultimate beneficiaries of this would be the Western people themselves.

liberal, or just fat. Russia has a real army…

These drones should pack more explosive or armor penetration to get kills, I speak for the 2nd video, we see light damage to the self-propelled howitzer but a lot of living and unmaimed soldiers fleeing the scene, they should not be unscathed after that.

It struck next to it, however a 5kg charge is powerful, it has a potential to cause reparable damage to the artillery from where it struck, perhaps not destroy it entirely, but possibly to disable.

the thing is, the missile didn’t penetrate the second howitzer.

Doesn’t need to if they get good at hitting the tracks, a 5kg charge is easily powerful enough to destroy the tracks and make it immobile until it is repaired.

In that time counter battery fire can destroy it or a troop push can capture it.

Same with hitting the optics package on a bradley or an abrams, doesn’t need to destroy it outright only needs to knock out critical features.

Those lancets look like flying penises. They’re probably designed that way to lure Zelensky’s pathetic little ass out into the open.

While some may say that it is pointless to hit larger tracked pieces such as the self propelled howitzer, I disagree, a 5kg charge if struck correctly could blow the tracks off it, effectively meaning that it could be captured or destroyed by counter artillery fire or advancing patrols if it cannot move in sufficient time.

Targets such as that are good practice for operator crews, being able to take out the undercarriage of a tracked vehicle with little to no risk to Russian soldiers is very useful.

Why don’t they follow these tank strikes up with an attack on the fleeing personnel?
