The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue their offensive in different directions on the frontlines, pounding Ukrainian rear infrastructure with constant strikes. The night of January 27th was not an exception. The Ukrainian military also attempted another drone attack on Russian rear regions but achieved no results.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Russian air defense destroyed 32 Ukrainian drones during the night. They included:
- 15 in the Voronezh region;
- 11 in the Belgorod region;
- 4 in the Kursk region;
- 1 in the Orel region;
- 1 in the Tver region.
Ukrainian drone strikes were also reported on the evening of January 26. Ukrainian strikes again targeted the Crimean peninsula. According to the Russian military, in total seven Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed in the afternoon. Two of them were destroyed near Crimea, the others were eliminated in the border Belgorod region. Ukrainian strikes with the aircraft-type UAVs in the rear regions continue on a daily basis. Their intensity is growing but only the most massive attacks may cause some damage. Today, no successful Ukrainian strikes were confirmed.
Unfortunately, smaller Ukrainian UAVs do not stop terrorising Russian border regions. FPV drones attacked the town of Grayvoron in the Belgorod region. Civilian houses were also damaged in the village of Palatovo. Another drone detonated in the village of Veseloe. The Ukrainian military also continue attacks with NATO weapons on civilians that Kyiv lost. A civilian woman was injured in Gorlovka as a result of a strike from NATO-caliber artillery with cluster munition. Strikes continue and number of victims is growing.
The Russian military also continue precision strikes on Ukrainian military, industrial and energy infrastructure in the rear regions. According to the Ukrainian military, in total, 104 Russian drones targeted Ukrainian territory and 57 of them were allegedly destroyed.
Last night, Russian drones reached the Western Ukrainian region of Ivano-Frankivsk. Russian drones struck a large gas compression station and the power station of Bogorodchany. According to local observers, the both stations are important elements of the strategic gas infrastructure and energy system in the West of Ukraine, and damage to them limit the ability to supply gas to the central and western regions of Ukraine and energy to the West of the country.

Explosions also thundered in the Western Ternopil region. Any damage is yet to be confirmed there.
The Eastern Dnepropetrovsk region also came under massive Russian attack. At least three Russian kamikaze drones struck the oil depot in Kilchen that was the key node of the storage and supply of fuel to the Eastern and Southern frontlines. According to local reports, several fuel depots caught fire, the pumping stations and monitoring systems were destroyed.
More Russian strikes were confirmed in the border Sumy region. The military base of the 58th Motorized Infantry Brigade was destroyed in Stetskovka. The military facility was used to train the military personnel, store ammunition and military equipment before their deployment in the Russian Kursk region.
According to local reports, Russian drones also targeted the Kyiv region. Explosions thundered in the areas of Brovary, Ivankov, Makarov. Mirgorod airfield in the Poltava region reportedly came under another drone attack. More explosions were reported in the Cherkassy region.

Ukrainian air defense failed to destroy all Russian drones but inflicted more damage to civilian infrastructure. Apartment and private buildings were damaged in Dnepropetrovsk, Sumy and Kyiv regions.

is this really an effective strategy? for all the substations and plants that have been bombed, it seems like it makes very little difference on the front. this could just be a waste of drones, bombs, etc. keep in mind that during ww2 strategic bombing was of limited effectiveness.
