Footage from the frontlines in Eastern Ukraine confirmed that the Russian military had taken control of a dominant height near one of the largest Ukrainian strongholds in the Donbass. Russian flag is waving over the ash dump on the northern outskirts of the Avdeevka Coke and Chemical Plant which was turned into another castle by the Ukrainian military during the long years of war in the Donbass.
Russia Today showed some footage of the battles in the area, which resulted in the Russian victory. There are flags of the Russian Federation and the one of the 114th Motorized Rifle Brigade (the former ‘Vostok’ Brigade of the DPR), which stormed and took control of the ash dump.
Before any assault operations, Ukrainian servicemen were ‘smoked out of their hideout’ by Russian artillery fire, drone strikes, airstrikes etc.
The first reports about the Russian control of the stronghold came about the week ago. However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) launched counterattacks and Ukrainian fire prevented the Russian military from gaining a foothold in the area. The installation of the flags in the area marked the end of the battles for the hills and confirmed Russian control of them.
The intensity of battles and resistance of Ukrainian forces confirm the strategic importance of the control of the ash dump. It allows Russian forces to take close fire control on the Ukrainian military hiding in the large plant. Intensification of Russian shelling on the AFU in the plant will also decrease Ukrainian attacks on civilians in the Donetsk city agglomeration.

you do realize that the loss ratio here is between 5:1 and 8:1 in favour of the russians. that means the russians have lost far less ro acquire this territory. territory that is full of bunkers and networks of tunnels. the russians have also started tunnel work themselves. they might be digging under the industrial area as it currently stands. there was a post about this a week ago with photos on telegram showing tunnel digging equipment just east of this area

well, you can tabulate them yourself from the number of ukrianians graves. additionally you have the bbc and forbes, both western sources who claimed similar numbers a month ago, calling it a necessary loss for achieving gains against the “dug-in” russian forces. also the fact that you had ukraines miniaters stating the offensive is going terrible and the loss of life is staggering.

there is visual evidance of colum after colum of russian troops going into the area and getting smoked. neither forbes or bbc report avdeevka being a meat grinder for ukraine, au contrair, it is russians running an offensive against heavy fortifcations.

at the beginning of the war, they said ukraine was winning the propaganda war. now russia is winning the real war and the propaganda war.
modern warfare raises some questions re the law of war. how do yousurrender to a drone?. how can a drone operator accept and acknowledge a surrendering foe? is a drone controller entitled to drop further munitions on a wounded adversary or is that a war crime?. anybody know the answers?
i thought a while back drone bombs should be bigger, in hunting ethos you should use a weapon that has a decent chance to deliver a clean kill, and the smaller drone bombs seem to wound more than kill. that has some benefits in war but killing the enemy outright is pretty good too and more humane.

there was video of russian soldier surrender ing to ukrainian drone , getting guided by drone towards ukrainian lines. so surrender to drone is possible/ manageable, but ur right, it is a new phase of military technologie
