On September 10, Russian forces deployed reinforcements in al-Qamishli Airport in northeastern Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The city of al-Qamishli that is located right on the border with Turkey is jointly controlled by Syrian government forces and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces.

“Russian forces brought, through the M4 International Highway, 50 trucks loaded with armored vehicles, weapons, ammunition and logistical materials to Qamishli Airport,” the SOHR said in a report.

Two days ago, the London-based monitoring group reported that Russia had deployed equipment, weapons and logistics by air in al-Qamishli Airport.

Last year, several sources claimed that Russia was planning to establish a base in al-Qamishli Airport similar to that in Hmeimim on the Syrian coast. However, Russian military presence in the airport remained limited to a few helicopters and an air-defense system.

The recently deployed reinforcements in al-Qamishli Airport are meant to support the operations of the Russian Military Police in northeastern Syria. Moscow is working to strengthen its influence in the region in cooperation with Damascus and the SDF.

Good job. CIA trolls and hasbarats will cry and rage :)

SOHR most of the time is a very reliable source.

It makes sense but also a risk – or chance – for caramboage with the americans.

Lone Ranger

SOHR is an overweight Syrian troll living in Coventry in tHE UK, trolling from his livingroom, getting his info from second and third hand jihadi sources. Its about as reliable as the CIA…

that saying never gets old, because no matter the article, it’s always true :) the comments from ziorats and muricunts prove you right every time

I can only see Turks as well as Russians spreads too much out.

If we look from below, we soon will see if they spread too much out and will remain as intacts systems.

This is no Adolf from Linz and Berlin, but one of his biggest mistakes was spreading too much out as well the keeping was not a consolidating but a plundering one.

It make a kind of sense. And I dont like Assads as wel as Russians, but I think Russia should reinforce, where they already are and fx here instead could send more Assads up there.

Christopher Petrov

Next Russian Airbase in Syria? :)

I will not read this shitty articles any more! Somebody is taking us for an idiots.

I am tired of this MYOPIC game and totally useless articles running in circles with 3rd rate information’s. Gives impression that we now analyze one leaf to get the picture of all fucking jungle around us ! Which is totally wrong approach!!

It is more than obvious that some things have been agreed secretly about Syria and who gets what and where and under which conditions. But through political negotiations and arrangements rather than through balance of the forces on the ground .

And this war is just becoming facade, because the moves are made on much higher secretive levels. And those decisions are influencing moves on the ground of all participants it seams.

Against all International rule-based order of law.

Yes by the US… not Russia

Simon Ndiritu

SOR report is planned to sell increased deployment of US troops in Syria; And since the Russians brought in reinforcement, the US will bring in more troops and steal more oil as a “response”.
