In the Zaporizhzhia area, Russian units have regained control of several strongpoints in the Priluky region. They are continuing their attacks toward Vozdvizhevka. Meanwhile, an extensive “grey zone” remains between the Haichur River and the railway, where small groups are operating. In the Sumy area, the “North” grouping’s assault groups advanced 550 meters and repelled an attempt by the 21st Brigade to infiltrate Myropillia. In the Kharkiv area, Russian troops advanced 400 meters in the Vovchansk sector, fighting along the right bank of the Vovcha River and in Chaikivka. In the Kupyansk area, Russian troops advanced four kilometers on a broad front between the Pishchane settlements, fighting near Kovsharivka and Kupyansk-Uzlovoi, where Ukraine has deployed the largest number of drone crews. In the Izyum area, fighting continues for control of Drobysheve, Sosnove, and Aleksandrivka. There were airstrikes in Pryshyb, Tatyanivka, Izyum, and Krasnyi Oskol. In the Dobropillia salient, Russian troops are pushing through the defenses in Bilohorka and advancing in the Novyi Donbas area. They have taken control of the tree lines along the railway. Estonia’s president, Alar Karis, stated that many European companies are waiting for the conflict in Ukraine to end to resume business in Russia.

Zaporizhzhia Direction

In the direction of Zaporizhzhia, clashes continue on the western bank of the Haichur River, where Ukrainian units had previously launched a strong counterattack. In the Priluky area, Russian units have restored control over several strongpoints and continue to attack Vozdvizhevka, which is located west of the railway.

Meanwhile, an extensive “grey zone” persists between the Haichur River and the railway line, where small groups from both sides operate. West of Huliaipole, Ukrainian units continue to attempt infiltration in the vicinity of Staroukrainka and Zheleznodorozhne. Meanwhile, along the Huliaipilske–Vovshebne line, Russian troops continue an active offensive, but as before, with small groups. Ukrainian units are gradually being pushed back westward along the defense line on the approaches to Novoselivka, which was equipped by the Ukrainian side.

Through a series of attacks by large groups of assailants, the Ukrainian command attempted to halt the advance of the “East” grouping in the Zaporizhzhia region but only succeeded in delaying it. The Ukrainian reserves have not yet been exhausted, but, judging by events in the neighboring western direction, the focus of the Ukrainian forces has shifted somewhat.

Sumy Direction

In the Sumy district, Russian assault units advanced up to 550 meters along fifteen fronts. There are ongoing firefights in Kondrativka and the surrounding area. Ukrainian forces attempted to infiltrate Myropillia again; however, an assault group from the 21st Separate Mechanized Brigade was destroyed two kilometers from the settlement.

In the Krasnopillia district, near the recently captured village of Novodmytrivka and in the forested areas around Riasne, Russian assault groups advanced up to 400 meters along six fronts. In the Riasne area, Ukrainian units with two assault groups from the 119th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade attempted a counterattack.

Kharkiv Direction

In the direction of Kharkiv, units of the “North” grouping continue to expand the security zone. In the Veterynarne area, Russian assault groups are clearing nearby forests.

In the Vovchansk area, the “North” grouping’s assault units advanced up to 400 meters along six fronts. Intense fighting continues in the forested areas of the Vovchansk district, along the right bank of the Vovcha River, and in Chaikivka.

In the Velykyi Burluk area, Russian assault units advanced up to 200 meters northwest of the Kupyansk district.

In the Slobozhanske sector, Russian units are making local attempts to advance along several sections of the border. In the Krasnopillia sector, Ukrainian forces are counterattacking along the Pokrivka–Novodmytrivka–Taratutyne line in an attempt to push Russian troops back to the border. To the south, Russian units have sent small groups to the Riasne area, where fighting continues near the settlement.

Izyum Direction

In the direction of Izyum, Russian troops continue to fight for Drobysheve. Russian units control the northern part of the settlement, while the southern part remains in a “grey zone.” A similar situation is developing in Novoselivka. Clashes are ongoing in Sosnove and along the tree lines east of Aleksandrivka. Consolidation in the village itself has not yet been achieved. Fighting continues in Korovyn Yar, and Ukrainian units’ logistics from Lozove are under fire. In Pryshyb and Tatyanivka, Ukrainian units are being struck by aircraft. From 12:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m., about 30 “Geran-2” unmanned aerial vehicles struck Krasnyi Oskol and the area near the exit from Izyum towards Donbas. Detonations were then observed. Prior to this, 5–6 strikes with high-explosive aerial bombs were carried out in the Krasnyi Oskol area.

Kupyansk Direction

In the Kupyansk area, on the eastern flank, Russian troops are advancing toward Novoosinove. The Ukrainian side has established a robust defense line with trenches and fortified dugouts in front of the village. Novoosinove itself is located on a hilltop, and the Ukrainian side can see the entire territory from which Russian units are advancing. Despite these difficulties, Russian units advanced four kilometers on a broad front between the southern and northern Pishchane settlements. The logistical “corridor” southeast of Kurylivka is being expanded to prevent Russian units in this sector from being cut off in case of counterattacks.

Fighting continues from the direction of Kurylivka on the approaches to Kovsharivka and near Kupyansk-Uzlovoi. In the Kutkivka area, Ukrainian units are attacking in small groups. The main objective is to disrupt the supply lines to Dvorichna. In Kupyansk itself, the situation remains manageable and has not changed significantly. The Ukrainian side has thrown its main forces into the confrontation near Kupyansk-Uzlovoi, a logistical hub in the area.

Dobropillia Salient

Fighting continues in Bilytske and to the north on the Dobropillia salient. Russian units are gradually pushing through Ukrainian defenses, identifying vulnerable sectors and striking drone control points and personnel deployment sites. Meanwhile, Ukrainian units are counterattacking to the south in an attempt to break through towards Rodynske.

In the northern part of the front line, Russian troops are expanding their control zone between Rusyn Yar and Novopavlivka. This sector is located in a ravine with minimal elevation change, which complicates advancement and logistics. This sector is important for Russian troops as it provides an additional front on the Kostiantynivka direction.

Conclusion

Analysis of the operational situation indicates the persistence of high-intensity combat operations in all directions. In the Zaporizhzhia area, Russian units are gradually reducing “grey zones” and restoring control over strong points despite the abundance of Ukrainian drones. No active large-scale advancement is observed. In the Sumy area, the “North” group continues to advance systematically, repelling counterattacks and wearing down reserves transferred by the Ukrainian command from other sectors. In the Kharkiv area, Russian troops maintain the initiative and are expanding their control zone along the border. However, difficult terrain and a lack of cover remain serious obstacles. In the Kupyansk area, advancing four kilometers between the Pishchane settlements and expanding the logistical corridor creates prerequisites for a further advance toward Kupyansk-Uzlovoi, despite the Ukrainian side’s active use of drones. In the Izyum area, airstrikes on logistical hubs and Ukrainian unit concentrations continue to cause significant damage. On the Dobropillia salient, Russian troops are gradually pushing through the defense and taking control of key tree lines along the railway.

In the context of international politics, a notable event was a statement made by Estonian President Alar Karis. In an interview with ERR, Karis lamented that many European companies are waiting for the conflict in Ukraine to end before resuming business in Russia. After the conflict began, many foreign companies left the Russian market. In May 2025, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, stated that a special regime would be applied to foreign companies that left the Russian market “impudently.” Karis noted that many European companies did not leave Russia and that others are waiting for the conflict to end to resume their activities. Russia has repeatedly stated that it will withstand the intensifying sanctions imposed by the West over the past years. Russian authorities have noted that Western countries lack the courage to admit the failure of anti-Russian measures. Within Western countries, there have been repeated calls that anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective. The Estonian president’s statement reflects a growing awareness that European businesses are interested in returning to the Russian market despite political pressure and sanctions rhetoric.
