The US support to ISIS in Syria is the main obstacle faced by anti-terrorist forces, spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov, announced on Monday.
“The main obstacle to the complete elimination of Daesh [ISIS] in Syria is not the military capabilities of terrorists, but rather the support of [our] American colleagues,” Konashenkov said.
He added that Moscow had warned Washington that its forces would repel any “odd” attacks by terrorists from an area controlled by U.S. forces.
Konashenkov added that ISIS has carried out against Syrian forces from the areas where “US military mission” is deployed.
According to the statement, 300 ISIS members left the city of Rubkan on September 28 and moved in the direction of the government-held city of Al-Qaryatayn in Homs province. The terrorists avoided the Syrian army’s posts using coordinates that can be obtained through aerial reconnaissance only and attacked Al-Qaryatayn. On the same day, ISIS conducted multiple attacks against government forces along the strategic Palmyra-Deir Ezzor highway.
“The listed attacks of terrorists are linked by only one thing — they were all carried out from a 50-kilometer zone around the settlement of al-Tanf on the Syrian-Jordanian border, and all from where the ‘US military mission’ is located…,” the spokesman said.
I thought qaryatayn was attacked by a cpl dozen isis fighters and corrupt ndf now its 300??

Principle of Occam’s razor suggests when confronted with two explanations, the simplest explanation with least piling on of assumptions is most plausible …lending to – sophisticated surveillance intelligence.
The mortar attack was upon the Command Center.
It would be unreasonable assume that ISIS & FSA do not have spies on the SAA and through out the region.
Occams Razor dictates that is by far the simplest most likely explanation.

Actually, your proposed spy theory requires the piling-on of a whole raft of variable assumptions – that these spies exist, that they knew presence of Russian high end officer, they had ability to accurately target, etc, etc. That is a whole lot of supposition, which is essentially the very opposite of the principle of Occam’s Razor. That is, we all categorically know the US actually has sophisticated tracking and surveillance means – and can easily pass that information directly into the field – ergo the simplest explanation is clear.

Interesting! So these attacks were launched from the at-Tanf area, and the insurgents found safe routes, with satellite intel and drones, and so managed to avoid SAA patrols. SOF type of warfare – hey wait, US has SOF operating from at-Tanf. Could that be a coincidence?
