The Russian military has resumed offensive operations against Kiev forces in the Zaporozhie direction after a tactical pause.
On March 7, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the We Are Together with Russia public movement, told TASS that Russian troops had seized four Ukrainian strongholds in this direction over the past day.
“In the past 24 hours, [Russian troops] seized four Ukrainian army strongholds in the area between [the communities of] Robotyne and Verbovoye. The enemy lost about 50 militants yesterday evening and last night,” the politician said.
Battles continue in the settlement of Robotyne, he said, noting that Russian troops are in control of the settlement’s southern part while Kiev forces are withdrawing from its northern part.
“Major battles are raging in the ruins of a school and near the culture house while the center of the community remains the gray zone,” Rogov added.
According to the politician, Kiev forces continue to bring manpower and equipment, including heavy weapons, to that direction. They are also using suicide and reconnaissance drone on a large-scale in an attempt to stop Russian troops.
Russian news sources shared on March 6 and 7 several videos showing recent drone and artillery strikes on Ukrainian troops, positions and equipment in the Zaporozhie direction. One of the strikes destroyed an American-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar.
Robotyne and Verbovoye were the only two towns in the Zaporozhie direction that Kiev forces managed to enter during the failed 2023 spring counteroffensive.
If completed successfully, Russian offensive operations in Zaporozhie will be a major blow to the Kiev regime. The inability of Ukraine’s elite units to advance in this direction last spring and now their failure to defend their very little gains will likely anger the regime backers in the West, who have so far provided hundreds of billions worth of military aid.
