Russian Foreign Ministry Reveals Reasons And Results Of Suspension Of Grain Deal

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia revealed some important details on the suspended grain deal, the extending of which loses any sense amid the “outright sabotage”. The Foreign Ministry clarified that Russia’s objection to the extension of the deal means the rejection ti fulfill conditions of the agreements that ensured the safety of grain export.

The grain deal officially expires on July 18. Since tomorrow:

  •  Russia will not provide any guarantees for the safety of navigation in the area of the corridor;
  • The maritime humanitarian corridor itself will be closed;
  • Russia will restore the temporary regime of dangerous navigation imposed in the northwestern waters of the Black Sea  since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine;
  • The Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul will be closed.

Moscow claimed that if the West values the grain deal, it must first fulfill all the agreements, including withdraw Russian fertilizers and food from sanctions etc.

“Only after receiving concrete results, and not promises and assurances, will Russia be ready to consider restoring the “deal”,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Criticizing the implementation of the grain deal, the Foreign Ministry pointed to the following reasons:

  • non-fulfillment of the terms of the memorandum,
  • “attacks against Russian civilian and military facilities” by Ukraine, including the undermining of the Tolyatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline etc,
  • the “commercial goals” of the export of Ukrainian food and its shipment mainly to countries with high income levels. LINK

The ministry concluded that the results of the deal are disappointing.

Earlier, the Kremlin said that the grain deal was suspended until Russia’s conditions are met.

I his turn, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan concluded that “the grain deal has gone down in history.” However, he believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin is interested in extending the grain deal and he intends to discuss this issue with his Russian counterpart during Putin’s visit to Turkey planned to take place in August.

you just do not do deals with the west when you can’t force them to hold up their part of the bargain. in the end now it will look to the world that evil russia wants africans to starve. and from the western perspective that was the entire point of the deal well in adition to use the ships to deliver more arms.

this arrangement speaks to the nature of the conflict and russia’s operations in theater allowing ukraine to use the shipping lines while turkey a nato member (and enemy of russia ) is the country inspecting the ships is absurd
