British website Bellingcat is leaking misinformation of special services under the cover of investigations, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote on her Facebook page on September 14.
The statement refered Bellingcat’s report claiming that the wesbsite found out using the Russian Federal Migration Service’s data that two suspects in the Skripal poisoning case, Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, were linked to the Russian military intelligence service GRU.
Zakharova said that she has no doubt that Bellingcat is tied to special services.
“Moreover, it is most likely that this is a special agency, which is leaking misinformation under the cover of investigations,” she wrote adding that Bellingcat failed to provide evidence that Petrov and Boshirov were linked to the Salisbury poisoning case.
The diplomat also sgated that earlier this website almost monopolized the right to the truth in investigating the MH17 crash in eastern Ukraine in 2014.
“They provided such details, which could not have been collected by the entire scientific and research institute, not to speak about a private company,” Zakharova said.

Ironically, the more attention that the Corporate Media draws attention to the Scripal episode, the more previously disinterested citizens decide to look for themselves and find that the government narrative is rather amateur .
Its rather like the Eternal Victims drawing attention to the holocaust story as they froth at the mouth screaming ‘ anti Semitism.
Only ‘truths’ can survive the bright light of reality.
Bellingcat claims to be “opensource”, however the “evidence” they claim to have obtained – central Russian resident database, Russian passport files, Aeroflot booking records and the assertions they make – top secret markings, suspicious abbreviations, incomplete data – require highly specialised knowledge and access to secure Russian computers. Certainly NOT opensource collection. If this is the work of two geeks in Leicester, it could be a complete fantasy. If not then I agree with Zakharova, they are a MI6 hangout.
If it’s hacked from secure computers, then Bellingcat or whoever obtained it is involved in criminal theft activity by their own admission. The other explanation is that the material is photo shopped fraud. In either case, it makes anything provided by Bellingcat of questionable veracity.
I haven’t been able to confirm if this material was obtained legally from open source publicly available records. All indications are that it wasn’t and that it is either stolen or fabricated or both. If it’s stolen, then the credibility of the thieve’s version of what they’ve seen is suspect. And if it’s fabricated, then it’s perpetrating a false narrative. In either case, until they come clean with where and how they got it. Bellingcat’s story has to be discounted as coming from frauds or criminals or both.
