Russia’s Okhotnik (Hunter) heavy unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) has made the first flight, the Russian Defense Ministry revealed on August 3.
“Under the test program, a long-duration flight time UCAV Okhotnik has performed its first flight,” the defense ministry said in a press release. “The first flight took place at 12.20 Moscow time and lasted for over 20 minutes. The aerial vehicle flown by the operator made several circles around the airfield at an altitude of 600 meters and then successfully landed.”
Okhotnik is developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau. The UCAV does have a low signature, a flying wing aerodynamic scheme, and a takeoff weight of 20 tons. It is made of composite materials and a radar-absorbing coat.

According to Russian sources, the UCAV also employs the most advanced reconnaissance equipment.

Not to defend the guy but I’m a Canadian and I’ve never heard of a ‘pig war’ and I have never watched a raptor game or followed basketball in any way other than the high school teams my kids played on.

The USA went all in on “stealth” building stealth warships and even hinting at stealth body armour.
It’s becoming increasingly obvious that stealth isn’t as effective as it once might have been and the cost of developing countermeasures to stealth is cheaper and easier than coming up with new stealthy designs by an order of magnitude …. the result being ever more complex weapons that are enormously expensive to develop and the complexity means they are prone to failure and require a tone of maintenance $$$ to fly.
I wonder if the Pentagon’s abandonment of the INF treaty and the new focus on mid range missiles is an admission that “stealth” is a dead end and they are stuck trying to sell the shitload of electronic junk that is the F-35 while at the same time playing catch up to the world in missile technology. It’s like they can’t admit that stealth is vulnerable because of their massive investments but they have to do something else to stay relevant.
