Russian Aerospace Forces’ Mi-28N Havoc helicopter crashed near the city of Homs in Syria. Both pilots are dead.
The crash occurred at 22:29 GMT on Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service reported Tuesday.
“Two crewmembers were killed. The bodies of the dead pilots were removed [from the crash site] during search and rescue operations and are currently at the Hmeymim Airbase.” report reads.
According to the ministry, the helicopter was not shot down. The reasons behind the crash aren’t determined yet. A task force has been sent to the area of the incident to investigate them.
The Mi-28N Night Hunter is designed for round-the-clock combat operations. It can find and destroy the enemy’s vehicles and manpower.
