After several waves of night strikes, Russian forces continued attacks in the daytime. In the afternoon of April 22, a series of strikes hit Ukrainian military facilities in different districts in the Kharkiv region.
One of Russian highly precision strikes destroyed the main TV tower in the city of Kharkiv. As a result of the attack, the tower snapped in half.
The local Ukrainian authorities confirmed a series of explosions in Kharkiv. The local media claimed damage to some ‘infrastructure facility’ in the city. Ukrainian authorities tried to hide the damage but numerous videos from the city showing the destruction of the tower destroyed their plan. As a result, the regional military administration admitted the destruction of the tower. According to the local military authorities, the tower was destroyed by Russian Kh-59 missile strike.
There are no casualties among the local civilians.
The attack interrupted the TV signal in the entire city. However, this was not a civilian target.
The military radio-electronic devices installed on the Kharkiv TV served the Ukrainian military to coordinate the military operations in the border regions of the Russian Federation.
In particular, the equipment was used to ensure sorties into the territory of the Belgorod region, in which (sorties) militants of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine, supervised by the special services of the West, were involved.
According to some local reports, the US-made radio equipment was deployed on the Kharkiv TV tower in 2022. The systems allowed the Ukrainian military to launch reconnaissance operations and maintain communication with command posts in other regions controlled by the Kiev regime. With the help of equipment installed in the upper part of the tower in Kharkov the radio signal covered vast territories in the north-east of Ukraine where the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate coordinated by US/British special services launched attacks on the Russian territory.
At the same time, more Russian strikes were reported in the towns of Volchansk and Dergachi in the Kharkiv region. The targets included Ukrainian military equipment and manpower which supports activities on the northern Donbass frontlines.
