A senior Russian military intelligence general was wounded after being shot by a gunman in Moscow on February 6 in an apparent assassination attempt.

In a statement, Russia’s Investigative Committee said that Lt. Gen. Vladimir Alekseev, first deputy chief of Russia’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU), was shot several times in the back outside of his residence in the western part of the capital.

Alekseev was taken to the hospital, according to the committee, which didn’t provide any details about the condition of the general.

The gunman fled the scene. IInvestigative, operational and search activities are underway aimed at identifying those involved.

Investigators and forensic experts from the committee’s Moscow branch are also examining the scene, reviewing CCTV footage, and interviewing eyewitnesses.

Alekseev, 64, is one of Russia’s most senior military officials, having served as first deputy head of the GRU since 2011. He oversaw anti-terrorist operations in Syria, and for that he was awarded the title Hero of Russia. He also played a key role in negotiations with Ukraine over several issues since the start of the special military operation.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov wished Alexeyev a speedy recovery, and said that all information on the assassination attempt is being reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, from his side, held Ukraine responsible, saying that the “terrorist attack” against Alekseyev “confirmed the intention” of Kiev to disrupt the negotiations.

He added that the foreign ministry cannot predict how this assassination attempt may affect further negotiations, noting that the “This is not at my discretion, it will be decided by the leadership of our country.”

It’s worth noting that Ukrainian intelligence has previously branded Alekseev an “international criminal.” Kiev has been linked to past assassination plots targeting Russian officials, military commanders and even journalists.

The assassinations began with the killing of Darya Dugina, a journalist and the daughter of political philosopher Aleksandr Dugin, on a road near Moscow on August 20 of 2022, and regained attention with the assassination of Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, head of the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Protection Troops, within the Russian capital on December 17 of 2024.

On December 22 of last year, head of the Operational Training Directorate at the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Fanil Sarvarov, was killed in an explosion in southern Moscow.

Russia security services, namely the Federal Security Service — more known by its acronym FSB —, foiled many other assassination plots over the last three years or so, with Ukrainian security agencies suspected in the vast majority of cases.

you don’t even know one russian person obviously you just vomit rhetoric asong as its anti american and you don’t even know what that even means since your analysis is as shallow as your transparency imo.

RPG22inmygymbag

that’s what i’m saying. what’s really going on?

the poof

they turn the other cheek (that is butt cheek) especially when their valued western ‘partners’ are involved, without fail.

let’ be honest: the killing of a head of security services is – as hard as is sounds – a darwinian selection. the next should step up the security component of this institution. those who are unable to do so could also use the voluntary retiring option before darwinian selection takes over. this, by the way, applies to each and every administrative position.

if putin wanted to win the war by military means as much as he wants to be included in social events and talks with western “leaders” the war would have been over with a couple years ago

why choose the company of liars and thieves ?

globalists have foolish ideas and send in sacarii assassins. the real question is what, when, where and how long the well calculated russian response will be. it will come

i cannot see how killing a gov’t military official will affect any negotiations no matter how high the rank. this is just the business of the kiev junta as normal. the nato assassination squad didn’t get the memo and were never likely to. the junta in kiev have no intention of peace talks. they use this ruse for getting a breather, restocking, and rotations. the junta’s task will get easier as ukraine gets smaller.

Golliwog

the source started in 2013. actually. historically.

Conan M

actually… the plans were in the mix as early as the 1960s with ukrainians living in north america and being trained for future misadventures in their old home circa 1991…

Anonymous

the plans started when stalin forced ukraine to stop speaking russian and made them devise a pidgin form and call it ukrainian. they started even before that but it was the first step in deceiving the world that ukraine isn’t russians.

Ghost Man

are you sure that was stalin?

Anonymous

Anonymous

yes we who keep up already know king chatles has signed a 100 year deal with zelensky tieing military commitment from england to ukraine for mineral rights and that zelenskys other advisor ally pope leo clearly told him to carry on and s dismissed trumps peace proposal totally by saying something like, oh that?, i barely even bothered toook at it. dismissively as if entirely irrelevant. imo

hehehe even russian officers cannot learn to protect themselves when there is ample evidence of them being targets, one would think they make and take precautions…but noooo, no wonder russia is in a quagmire in ukraine and nobody is paying hees to their demands.

how can your intelligence generals or any generals for that matter, not have around the clock security at this point with all the russian generals that have been assassinated?

no one can live under 24 hour guard. it’s abusive psychologically to have no privacy. that why they do it in prisons. it damages people mentally.

the ukrainians and amerikunts are trolling russia in “negotiations”. i think russians need to kill zelensky and end this regime. you cannot negotiate with them. stop fucking around and destroy the zelensky regime

if someone keeps slashing the tires on your car several times and you do nothing, he keeps doing it. once you show him equal pain, he stops abruptly. the russian elites live in their own bubble. it is a much better bubble than their western partners but a bubble nonetheless.
