The Russian military damaged or destroyed 33 different targets of Kiev forces using Lancet loitering munitions during April.

The Ukrainian losses, all documented in video by Lostarmour.info, were:

  • Nine Self-propelled howitzers, including three Ukrainian-made Bohdana one Swedish-made Archer, and one Polish-made Krab;
  • One towed howitzer;
  • Two multiple rocket launcher, an American-made M142 HIMARS and Croatian-made RAK-12;
  • Eight Main battle tanks;
  • One mortar;
  • One infantry fighting vehicles, an American-made M2A2 Bradley ODS-SA;
  • Three armored personnel carriers, including two American-made M113;
  • One engineering vehicle, an American-made M88;
  • Two radars, including American-made AN/TPQ-36;
  • Five military vehicles of different types.

The Lancet was developed by the ZALA Aero Group, a subsidiary of Russia’s defense giant Kalashnikov Concern. The company produces two versions of the loitering munition, the Izdeliye-52 with an endurance of 30 minutes and a one-kilogram warhead and the larger Izdeliye-51 that has an endurance of 40 minutes and is armed with a warhead weighting three kilograms.

The loitering munition flies towards the designated area with a GLONASS-aided inertial navigation system. After arriving in the area, the operator utilizes an onboard electro-optical system via a two-way data-link to detect, track and lock on the target. A laser-ranging system then controls the detonation of the warhead.

Ukrainian attempts to stop Lancet loitering munitions with air defense fire, electronic warfare or countermeasures have so far been mostly unsuccessful.

Lostarmour.info has documented 3,187 strikes since the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine. The real number may be much higher as the number includes only strikes documented with videos or photos. Many other strikes remain classified.
