The Amaq news agency of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group has published a video, showing a field-type home station of Russian military in Palmyra. The footage shows trophies of terrorists – a large number of arms (mounted heavy machine guns, the Kalashnikov guns of various types, rocket anti-tank launchers, ammunition, and military hardware). The abandoned things indicate that the cantonment was left in a rush in a fight (we can see damaged equipment).
For unknown reasons, the Russian command has not destroyed of weapons and ammunition, captured by terrorists, from the air.
The weapons shown are hardly current Russian standard issue. Most are old model Ak47’s , Akm’s , Dshk HMG’s etc. Most look new though, implying that they came from Soviet stocks held in Russia. Possibly they had already been handed over to the Syrians for the creation of a local militia in that area. The Russians present were most likely advisers and engineers. The Dshk’s , Zu23 and the S60 57mm will most likely be used by Isis to arm new technicals. The explosives will go into more IED’s and VBIED’s. Time for somebody to fire several BM21 salvoes into that base.

ISIS destroyed Iraqis base in Mosul but I doubt it would make US news. US cannot win if fighting from behind Iraqis. There are more Iraqis troop death than reported.
