Russian Military: Border Crossing Between Syria And Israel Ready For Opening

The Syrian side of the Quneitra border crossing between Syria and Israel is ready for opening, Deputy Commander of the Russian Forces in Syria Lieutenant General Sergei Kuralenko told media on October 2.

“The border crossing is ready for opening and for launching operations. This comes due to a great effort carried out by the Armed Forces of the Syrian Arab Republic with the assistance of the Russian Aerospace Forces. This is first and foremost crushing terrorists in this region. Then a large group of officers worked together with representatives of the Syrian Armed Forces on implementing steps for post-conflict settlement,” Kuralenko stated.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman stated that Israel was ready to open the Quneitra crossing with Syria, which is the only official crossing between the two sides.

In late September, reports appeared that Syria and Jordan may soon reopen the Nasib crossing between the countries. The Syrian government officially stated that it’s fully prepared for this move.

Conditions to re-open the aforementioned border crossings appeared after the Syrian military had fully cleared the southern part of the country from ISIS and other terrorist groups earlier this year.

While opening the Jordanian crossing makes logical sense, for trade to begin again. The Israeli crossing for the Druze would be good, but other than local, highly suspect.

It will mostly be necessary to fulfill the UNDOF mandate, but also to carry on with the student exchange, prisoner exchange and of course for the Druze. I guess it also will be necessary to liaise better between SAA, Russian Forces and IDF. Also, the Jordanian crossing is very different, at the border between two countries which are at peace, whereas the Quneitra crossing is a military crossing at the ceasefire line between two countries that are still at war with each other. What is it that you suspect, Ronald?

Ronald

Clearly Israel backed the Wahhabi jihadists that Syria has just cleared out, and is still striking Syria by air, so yes they are still at war. I suspect the Israelis will attempt to stir and support any “sleeper cells” that were left behind by the jihadists.

Rob

Putin and Assad should not miss any chance, wipe out the illegitimate shame forces of US and of their stooges from entire Syria..

Rob

The US and UK war is for global power that is why they attack each country in the world. Israel are neither Jew nor Christian nor Muslim but only terrorists disguised as Jew and are anti semitic abusing Jewish religion.

“between Syria and Israel”: when will Southfront understand that the Golan heights are not “Israel”, but Syrian territory occupied by Israel? Why does Southfront yield to Isreals proaganda?

Shahna

So who gets to cross from Israel to Syria? (I doubt Israel’s accepting incomers…) Refugees, ISIS-types, Druze and Mossad?

Mustafa Mehmet

that’s a escaping route for Assad when he runs away

jj

Israel aids the anti-Assad terrorists and looters. Syria was fine under Assad until these western/foreign backed terrorists started their destruction of Syria.

Shahna

To Israel – you mean the same Israel that tried to bomb him in Damascus and Latakia recently? Oh yeah – I’m sure he’ll run that way. … Seems you and Nuttiyahoo came out the same light bulb box.

Mustafa Mehmet

That is just to show. Behind door There good friend

Shahna

YOUR friends try to kill you? … I guess you’re just the forgiving type.

jj

Why would Syria want that border opened? Israel has only sent weapons and aid to the terrorists and has medically treated the same terrorists involved in be-headings and other atrocities against civilians, not to mention destroying Syria’s infrastructure.
