After months of positional battles, the Russian Armed Forces began to expand their foothold in the Kharkov region.
On August 13, the first reports from the front lines claimed Russian control of the town of Udy and the village of Odnorobovka located near the Ukrainian-Russian border to the north of Kharkiv.
In its daily report on August 14, the Russian Ministry of Defence confirmed that the town of Udy came under full control of the Russian military.
After prolonged positional battles on the outskirts of the town, Russian servicemen managed to achieve some successes in their offensive during the last week. As a result, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were forced to retreat from their positions in the area.
Full Russian control of the village of Odnorobovka located 10 kilometers to the west is yet to be officially confirmed.
To the northeast of Kharkov, Russian forces are advancing towards the Saltovka district of Kharkiv. On August 10, first reports claimed Russian control of the village of Borshcheva. The mop up operation continues in the area.
Fighting in the Kharkiv region is marked by prolonged positional battles. A lot of settlements are currently in the so-called gray zone. Clashes continue there but any of the warring sides does not take foothold in these settlements. Any major offensive by Russian forces is not expected in the region in the coming weeks. At the same time, any large-scale operation by the Russian military near the city of Kharkiv would destruct the ARmed Forces of Ukraine from the ongoing battles in the Donbass.
If the allied Forces manage to encircle Kharkov before October, would be not bad
Once the winter moves in, it is lights out for the Ukro-Nazis and their NATO supplied equipment, which might work good in the heat but not in the Russian type of cold.
Most of the reliable Soviet era equipment the Ukro-Nazis had is already destroyed. They know, that time is running out for them and their US masters.
I would think that Russian Siberian troops will be employed in the front lines during the Winter.

President Putin in a phone call to his Iranian counterpart: “Step by step, they are liberating the land of Donbas, and will continue to deNazify Ukraine” he said.
He also thanked Iran for its support and stated the potential for Russia to cooperate with allies such as China, India, Iran and others to build a new international order no longer dominated by the US.

RF forces are now pretty settled in stagnant waters and it appears that the expansion of area under their control was nothing but a pure defensive move to chase and drive away AFU who are harrassing them in the leisureful camp. That explains why these skirmishes are randomly taking place in trickling manner devoid of well-defined strategy.
Kharkov wat the Base of President Yanokovich in 2014 but was lost in the war. The question is are there still people left there who support a pro russian approach or have they been cleansed successfully after the pravi sector moved in as ideological police?

I dont think they will be ‘hated’. Almost half of the city is ‘ethnically’ Russian (which does not mean that they are Russian citizens, they are Ukrainians but this will not be a problem because the RF is a multiethnical federation). Kherson is a good example to follow, of fast integration with almost no destruction of the Oblast – IMO the best model for Kharkov.
