The Russian military deployed a new kamikaze UAV in the military operations in various regions of Ukraine. Privet-82 UAV have begun to be used in the Kherson, Ugledar and Bakhmut directions, according to the developer of the drone.
The Privet-82 kamikaze drone was developed by the Oko Design Bureau and it was successfully tested by the Ministry of Defense in different units which are taking part in the military operations in Ukraine. The Russian military appreciated the capabilities of the drone and approved it in May 2023. The drone was tested by different units in different modes, checked for range and flight time with a standard load for a distance of 10 kilometers, etc.

The drone is reportedly designed to strike Ukrainian artillery and armored vehicles. It is capable of flying up to 30 km. It has a speed of up to 140 km/h and a payload of up to 5.5 kg. It is launched from a catapult.

that is the thing about a drone; it can be a piece of junk but if it flies and hits a target with 5kg explosive it still kills. to stop it needs a missile or rounds of anti air gatling gun that costs more. e.g. now in the red sear a $1.4bn arleigh burke destroyer that costs $80m per year to run; salaries, fuel etc; is busy taking out $5000- drones.
