A new ceasefire agreement was reached in the southern region of the Syria’s city of Daraa, known as Daraa al-Balad.

The new agreement was implemented on September 6, following negotiations between the Russian delegation and the local Negotiating Committee.

Early on September 6th, the Russian military police and pro-government committees entered the Al-Arba’een neighborhood in Daraa Al-Balad to secure the implementation of the terms of the agreement.

Russian servicemen were spotted while controlling the withdrawal of militants from Daraa, and the surrender of their weapons.

Daraa al-Balad has been besieged for 75 days, since late June 2021. A number of ceasefire agreement have already been agreed there. The last one collapsed on August 31. The Negotiation Committee in Daraa al-Balad decided to withdraw from the Russian-brokered agreement on September 3.

In response, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed its military operation on September 4, targeting the gunmen’s posts with battle tanks, heavy machine guns and dozens of improvised rocket-assisted munition.

The next day, militants returned to the negotiation table.

According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the new agreement stipulated for the following:

  • Lifting of the siege imposed on Daraa al-Balad.
  • Deployment of ten security checkpoints and posts following the entry of regime forces to the region, under Russian military police’ supervision.
  • Evacuation of individuals refusing the new reconciliation to north Syria.
  • Striking reconciliation deals with suspects and military deserters.
  • Handing over of weapons.

The situation remains tense in Daraa al-Balad. There is a high probability that the new agreement will collapse in the coming days or even hours.

Try to see the broader picture. A ten year war with hundreds of thousands killed. Easy to quarterback a military strategy from an armchair. Leave it to the professionals.

Corrupt shithole of Ukropisstan

Russia had that camo earlier than the U.S. Its not a 100% match either. U.S. should decide and stick with it in the past 20years they have copied UK, German, Russian, Danish, Italian camos…

Why letting escape the terrorists to an other region? They will be rearmed better and come back killing you. Russia is playing a dirty game.

I hope Russia comes to its senses before some Russians end up killed by those Dara Apes, they can’t be tamed they are like sick rabid dogs, they have to be put down.

I wonder how many of these holdouts in Daraa are just brainwashed idiots. The probably believe all the propaganda that President Assad is a monster, and the SAA are President Assad’s henchmen coming to gun them down. They don’t have two brain cells to rub together, and realize that the Syrian government does everything possible to avoid military intervention and even offer full pardons to their fellow countrymen. One way or the other, the SAA will take back Daraa; it is inevitable. But, I also wonder, just how many of these “gunmen” are not even actual Syrians, but paid terrorist mercenaries by Saudi Arabia and the U.S./NATO countries???

Mike
