In the period from 2012 to 2018, the Russian military received 109 RS-24 Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles and 108 submarine-launched ballistic missiles, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu revealed at a meeting of the State Duma (the lower house of parliament) Defense Committee on March 11, according to Zvezda TV.
The defense minsiter added that during the same period over 1,000 jets and helicopters as well as 61 warship entered service with the Armed Forces. According to Shoigu, thanks to the expirience gained in Syria, attack helicopters were armed with light missiles having a range of up 15km.
Regarding the military equipment, the military received over 4,000 modern battle tanks and armoured vehicles. 57 military satellites were also put into service.
He added that the Ground Forces and the Navy’s coastal brigades are practically fully equipped with the Ratnik combat gear.
“Almost all Ground Forces units, as well as the Navy’s motorized rifle brigades and marine brigades – 35 units in total – have been provided with the Ratnik-2 modern combat gear,” Shoigu said.
Shoigu added that since 2012, 38 military units have been formed in the army, equipped with over 2,000 military drones.
“Starting this year, we will be receiving medium-range attack and surveillance systems,” the defense minister said.
Another important fact revealed during the meeting is that by 2019, the military has created a complete radar field of the missile warning system in all strategic directions at the Russian borders. A united space warning and combat system is being launched.
