On April 29, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation officially announced the liberation of the village of Semenovka in the Avdeevka direction. The mop up operation was completed there.
The village of Semenovka was one of the main Ukrainian strongholds on the defense line west of the city of Avdeevka.
Russian Ministry of Defense:
As a result of successful operations, units of the Center group of troops liberated the settlement of Semenovka of the Donetsk People’s Republic and defeated formations of the 68th infantry, 23rd, 115th mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 109th Brigade of the Defense Forces and mercenaries of the “Foreign Legion” in the areas of the settlements of Novoaleksandrovka, Arkhangelskoye, Tarasovka and Cherished Donetsk The People’s Republic.
The day before, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Syrsky, confirmed the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Berdychy, Semenovka and Novomikhailovka in the Avdeevka direction.
After their victory in Avdeevka, Russian forces rapidly advanced to the west and in heavy battles captured one Ukrainian stronghold after another, including in Lastochkino, Tonenkoe, Severnoe, Vodyanoe, Tonenkoe. After the victory in the battle for the village of Orlovka, the Russian military immediately launched assault on Semenovka. The Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted to save control of the road from the village to Novoselovka Persha, which was an important supply route fro the garrison on the entire defense line west of Avdeevka; but the AFU failed to resist for a long time and they were forced to resist to the north towards the outskirts of Berdychi.
The Russian army repelled the main Ukrainian forces from Semenovka weeks ago; but the AFU continued attempts to counterattack on the northern outskirts. As a result, the mop up operation was prolonged.
On April 27, Russian fighters planted their flag in the center of Semenovka. LINK
According to the latest reports from the battlefield, the Russian troops have already expanded the zone of thier control in the fields north and west of Semenovka.
The Russian military is also completing the mop up operations in several settlements around Avdeevka. The Russian Ministry of Defense is yet to officially declare the full control of Berdychi, Ocheretino, Novokalinovo, Solovyovo and Keramik. On April 28, the Russian military officially confirmed the full control of Novobakhmutovka. LINK
