On the night of July 1, the Armed Forces of Ukraine supported by the NATO military attempted new attack on the Crimean peninsula. The Russian air defense forces repelled the strikes.
According to local reports the attack targeted the eastern part of the peninsula, presumably the Crimean bridge. Several targets were reportedly intercepted in the Kherson region and the area of the city of Kerch in Crimea.
The Ukrainian military reportedly launched the US-made Storm Shadow missiles and decoy missiles to reveal the areas of deployment of Russian air defense systems. The wreckage of Storm Shadow missiles reportedly fell in the area of Shelkino village.
As a result, the attack was repelled. In its daily briefing, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the destruction of eight Storm Shadow missiles in total over the past day. However, it should be expected that the Armed Forces of Ukraine and NATO will try another massive attack in the coming days.
In the evening of July 1, another attack targeted the western coast of the peninsula. Russian air defense was active in Sevastopol.

Russian Iskander missiles targeted the Kanatovo airfield in the Kirovograd region, likely hunting on aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force used for the attack on Crimea. Explosions thundered at the airfield.
In the morning the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that Russian forces struck the aircraft of the Air Forces of Ukraine and inflicted damage to the parking lot and the infrastructure of the military airfield, revealing no other details.

During the day on July 1, Russian forces continued missile strikes on Ukrainian military airfields. Several waves of Russian strikes targeted the military airfield in Mirgorod in the Poltava region. At least two or three strikes of Iskander missiles with cluster warheads were reported at the airfield. A large fire was reported in the area. At least two Ukrainian aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force reportedly came under the attack.
According to unconfirmed reports by French military observers, presumably, the first combat use of F-16 fighters took place in Ukraine. Any details are yet to be provided and the report is yet to be confirmed.
