The Russian naval facility in Syria’s Tartus will be extended in order to allow aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines and other “first class” warships, Head of the Russian Federation Council’s defense committee Viktor Ozerov announced Monday, RIA Novosti reported.
Last weekend, SF already released a post about the planned extension of Russian facility in Tartus, citing Interfax report based on anonymous sources.
Now, this information became officially confirmed.
The Russian naval battlegroup, led by Admiral Kuznetsov heavy aircraft-carrying missile cruiser and Pyotr Velikiy nuclear battlecruiser arrived Sria’s shores and started combat operations against militants earlier in November.
