The Russian Navy continues to attack high-value military targets in Ukraine with long-range, precision-guided cruise missiles.
On April 7, the Russian Ministry of Defense released footage showing the launch of four Kalibr cruise missiles from a warship of the Black Sea Fleet. The missiles were apparently launched from one of the fleet’s Admiral Grigorovich-class frigates.
According to the Russian MoD, missiles launched from sea and air destroyed four fuel storage bases near Nikolaev, Zaporozhye, Kharkov and Chuguev, which were supplying Ukrainian forces in Kharkov, Nikolaev and Donbass.
The missiles launched by the Black Sea Fleet were most likely the land-attack version of the Kalibr family, the 3M14T. The cruise missile has a range of 1500-2500 kilometers. The missile’s guidance system is built around an INS [inertial navigation system] and GLONASS satellite guidance systems.
The 3M14T, which has a top speed of Mach 2.9, can fly as low as 20 meters above water and 50 meters above ground with a help of a TERCOM [terrain contour matching] system.
The precision-guided cruise missile is armed with a 450 kg HE-FRAG [high explosive fragmentation] or bunker buster warhead.

The Kalibr family includes several other types of land-attack, anti-ship and anti-submarine missiles that can be launched from warships, submarines, ground vehicles and even warplanes. Many of these missiles were especially designed for export.
The Russian Navy has been playing a very important role in the Russian special military operation in Ukraine since it is beginning.

Then a “precise” weapon can be launched at it and cause a lot of smoke as long as it ignites the fuel.
They certainly can’t hit those targets with troops b/c the UAF would wipe them out on the ground. They also can’t do it with helicopters like was done in Belgorod b/c UAF air defenses are better than Russian air defenses.

If it were not for the missiles the Russians would be done. Maybe keep the DPR and LPR guys in the fight and a few units from Crimean with the Chechen. The units from Russia’s regular army need to be sent home. They are inept and do not have the ability to conduct ground warfare. There lack of tactics will simply get the body count so high Russia will be under pressure at home to put an end to the fighting before they can achieve a victory.

You can pretend all you like it does not matter it will have no impact on what is taking place on the battle field. Russias small force is much smaller now it was strung out and many parts of it were destroyed. Its too small to hold anything and in addition to that very little ground has been retaken in the donbass.
The fight will now be in the same place it was before any of this started minus the gains in the south to the river. Every day Ukraine will get more weapons more men and continue to push . Russia still refuses to attack the bridges or rail lines that carry those men and weapons to the front. They either refuse or do not have the ability take your pick does not matter. Russia wanted a special operation it got a war and it refuses to fight a war. Until they round up another 150k or 200k men to send this will be a slow march back to where it started. The one thing that will help is that the DPR forces and LPR forces will now be the main defense. If they were given Russias better weapons they should be able to hold the gains they have.

For targets where great accuracy isn’t needed I think they should try to program old P-120’s to take a flight path that simulates a jet fighter taking off from a forward air base and taking some circuitous route to its eventual destination. Hopefully can trigger some SAM launches, which can be used to take these out.
