Russian Navy Fired 100 Kalibr Cruise Missiles On Terrorist Targets During Operation In Syria

On November 3, Russia’s diesel-electric submarine B-271 Kolpino fired six cruise missiles at ISIS targets in Deir ez-Zor province in Syria.

The missile strike supported an advance of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on the strategic city of al-Bukamal. This marked the 100th combat use of Kalibr cruise missile by Russian forces, which signifies the fact that the cruise missiles became widely used by the Russian Navy. Russian forces used Kalibr cruise missiles to destroy terrorist command centres, weapon depots and fortified areas.

On November 8, the SAA and its allies reportedly liberated al-Bukamal from ISIS taking control over this strategic logistical hub on the Syrian-Iraqi border.
