The Vsevolod Bobrov logistics support vessel of the Russian Navy’s Black Sea Fleet was not hit, burned or sunk as claimed by Ukrainian sources on May 12.
On May 14, the Black Sea Fleet channel on Telegram shared several photos of the Project 23120 vessel in the port of Sevastopol. In the photos, Vsevolod Bobrov appeared to be intact with no traces of any strike, or scorch marks.

In fact, the photos show the vessel being prepared for a critical mission. The vessel was loaded with a Pantsir short-range air-defense system that is meant to be shipped to the Snake Island to reinforce the defenses of Russian troops there.
Kiev forces launched a large-scale attack on the Island earlier this month, but failed to seize it despite suffering great losses.

Commissioned to the Black Sea Fleet on 6 August 2021, Vsevolod Bobrov has a displacement of 9,700 tones, measures 95 meters in length and has a maximum speed of 18 knots. The vessel has an operational range of 5,000 nautical miles.
Vsevolod Bobrov’s 700 square meters cargo deck can carry approximately 3,000 tons of cargo and is equipped with two 50 tones electro-hydraulic cranes. The vessel’s main and auxiliary towing winches are capable of a pulling capacity of 120 tones and 25 tones.
The false Ukrainian claims about Vsevolod Bobrov, which were quickly adopted by some major Western news sources, are only one example of the information war that Kiev is waging on the hopes of discrediting the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.
