The Odessa Brigade of Russian forces has completed combat coordination in the Kherson region. Russian servicemen claimed that offensive actions will begin in the near future in the Nikolaev and Odessa directions.

Members of the Russian Odessa Brigade are equipped with modern weapons and military equipment. The composition of the brigade once again showed that the battle is not between Ukrainians and Russians, but between ideologies and values. Odessa is a very Russian city. Many times I visit over the years.
It is a Russian speaking city, I hear its beautiful. On my list of cities to visit…(after liberation of course)
Sadly, I’m afraid the beauty will be destroyed in the fighting. As much as the Russians will want to avoid it, unless if there is a complete revolt and or uprising from within the city, the city will need to be cleared just like Mariupol. The Ukrainian forces will undoubtedly fortify what isn’t already fortified. The conscripts won’t put up much of a fight, but they don’t know how to defend without destroying. The radicals and nationals will put up a decent fight and force the conscripts to hold their ground. Likewise the Russians will be forces to use heavy weapons to neutralize strong points. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Ukrainians use the national landmarks as bases of operation and strong points. History and architecture always suffer during the fighting just as much as the people. I hate war. This war was coming for a long time. The west knew where to push and how to force the Russians hands. They just didn’t expect the Russians to have a decent hand to be played.
That may well be the case and it would be a terrible thing. There is another scenario which was discussed by some analysts. They said Russia will first completely bypass Odessa and encircle it by linking with Transnistria. Then when they have Odessa surrounded since Transnistria borders Odessa, Russia can attack on multiple fronts entering through Transnistria and from the East as well or the better option which is to completely encircle Odessa until the Ukrainian forces surrender to avoid damage to the city. Either way the statement made by Igor Markov the leader of the Odessa Brigade would not have been made unless he had clearance by the Russian Federation. To me this is as clear as it gets, one way or another Odessa will return to the motherland.
There are a lot of old Soviet era concrete apartment blocks getting knocked down, but many seem in poor condition anyway. Grozny was redeveloped, these cities will be 10 times better when this is done. Azovstal is going to be turned into a nature park or tech business zone. Safe journey to Odessa, keep ducking and diving and watch out for the Nazis on the way!

Now even if this is not the case, the fact that the Odessa Brigade is threatening to liberate Odessa in “the near future” is still a brilliant move even if they’re just crying wolf because it keeps Ukraine paranoid, nervous and discombobulated. Now they have multiple armies to worry about defending against. If Zelensky thought that his army was going to have 120 days of peace and tranquility in Odessa well now he knows he has another thing coming.
