A large-scale operation against terrorists in Aleppo will be started by the Syrian Army, backed up by the Russian Navy and the Russian Aerospace Forces, in the next 24 hours.
A large-scale operation to liberate Aleppo city may be started in the next 24 hours, the Izvestiya newspaper reported, citing First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Council of the Federation Committee on Defense and Security, Franz Klintsevich. Meanwhile, representatives of the Syrian authorities stressed that sooner or later, the city will be liberated from terrorists.
According to Klintsevich, there is a high probability that in the next day the Syrian Army, backed up by the Russian Navy and the Russian Aerospace Forces, will begin an operation against terrorists in Aleppo. He also noted that almost three weeks have passed after several humanitarian pauses were announced in Aleppo, but they have given practically no results.
“A humanitarian catastrophe is currently raging in Aleppo. There is no water, there is no food. Militants kill people. If no operation is carried out, civilians will die. As for distribution of leaflets [with a demand to militants to leave the city within 24 hours], such things are coordinated with the command of the Russian Aerospace Forces,” the official noted. “Logic of the war is such that hostilities to oust militants [from the city] will be with high probability started in the next day. In this regard, the carrier battle group of ships, which have come to the Syrian shores, should be used for carrying out of airstrikes,” Klintsevich stressed.
As a deputy of the Syrian Parliament, Mohammad Kheir al-Akkam told the newspaper, an issue of Aleppo’s liberation from terrorists is a priority for the leadership in Damascus.
“Aleppo is a strategically important city. We provide guarantees of a safe exit from the surrounded eastern parts for armed militants. In addition, we are ready to host civilian population and provide them with all the things needed. But, ultimately, the main goal of the country’s leadership is to clear Aleppo from terrorists and fully liberate the city,” al-Akkam said.
Earlier, Arab media reported that the Syrian Army has distributed leaflets, calling on militants to leave occupied areas in the terrorist-held eastern part of Aleppo in 24 hours. Terrorists can do this, using two corridors, which were opened for them by Syrian troops in cooperation with Russia. At that they can leave the city with their weapons. However, until the last days, practically nobody has expressed a desire to do it.
