Russian Peacekeepers Prepare For Work In Joint Ceasefire Monitoring Center With Turkey In Nagorno-Karabakh (Map, Video)

A group of Russian peacekeepers has been preparing to participate in the Joint Russian-Turkish Center for Controlling the Ceasefire and All Military Operations in the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict Zone. The center will carry out joint monitoring of the ceasefire using unmanned aerial vehicles.

Russian troops are preparing to leave for the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, in the course of training, the peacekeepers study the structure, mission, tasks and functions, the procedure for organizing the work of the Joint Center.

A brief overview of the recent developments in Nagorno-Karabkah:

  • As of January 27, 1318 bodies were retrieved from the battle zone, according to the State Service of Emergency Situations of Artsakh;
  • On January 26, the Armenian Ministry of Defense released names of 65 Armenian servicemen killed in the Karabakh war;
  • On January 27, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived to Armenia to discuss mutual relations between Iran and Armenia, as well as the Karabakh question;
  • As of January 27, Russia reported that more than 672.3 hectares of land and about 225.8 kilometers of roads were cleared from mines and IEDs and 23 813 explosive objects were found and destroyed.
