A Russian air company will deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged Deir ez-Zor under the UN World Food Program, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
“The UN World Food Program is ready to join efforts of the Syrian authorities and the Russian Aerospace Forces to ensure uninterrupted supply of humanitarian aid to the city of Deir ez-Zor,” the ministry’s statement reads.
The logistics details are unknown yet.
Some 200,000 people living under the ISIS siege in Deir ez-Zor are experiencing severe water shortages and a total lack of electricity.
