In the South-Donetsk direction, Russian forces are developing their offensive, constantly expanding their control and applying increasing pressure on the defense lines of the Ukrainian army. The Russian army is expanding its footholds, successfully pushing into the Dnepropetrovsk region from multiple directions, with the final mop up operations on the last Ukrainian positions along the administrative border nearing their completion.

The recent advance has been marked by several key victories. On August 25th, servicemen of the 1st Motorized Rifle Battalion of the 57th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade liberated the village of Zaporozhskoye. This settlement is the seventh to be freed in the Dnepropetrovsk region. New Russian victory signifies the steady progress of the offensive operation, as it was visually confirmed by footage of soldiers raising the Russian flag and their unit’s banner. The advance did not stop at the village itself. According to  the latest field reports, a subsequent push of up to 1000 meters to the southwest has secured a more advantageous tactical position for future offensive actions. This builds upon the official confirmation of control over Novogeorgievka on August 20th.

Victory in Zaporozhskoe:

The strategic implication of securing these two towns is the imminent encirclement of Ukrainian forces concentrated in the Kamyshevakha fortified area. Ukrainian command had intended to use this stronghold to stem the Russian advance westward, but this calculation appears to have failed. The northern flank of this emerging cauldron is being reinforced, notably with the confirmed control over Voronoe last week, which strengthens the Russian operational presence. Pressure is also intensifying west of Kamyshevakha itself, where active assault operations have expanded the zone of Russian control by up to 500 meters over the past 24 hours.

Simultaneously, a second potential cauldron is being formed further north around the major Ukrainian stronghold in the town of Novopavlovka. This mirrors the situation developing around Kamyshevakha, demonstrating a pattern where Ukrainian forces risk being trapped from one pocket into another. The liberation of the village of Filiya on August 24th, officially confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defence, contributes to this broader strategic pressure. While Ukrainian forces are hastily trying to fortify positions in the area of Zeleny Gay, they are subjected to systematic artillery strikes aimed at degrading the resilience of their defensive lines.

Russian assault in Filiya:

The ongoing advances in the Dnepropetrovsk region represent a concerted and multi-pronged effort to compromise key Ukrainian defensive hubs through encirclement and attrition. Russian offensive keeps up the pace on the southern frontlines despite the challenge of the dangerous field terrain, while the main forces of the Russian grouping are still concentrated around Pokrovsk.
