The US has provoked Turkey into launching a military operation in the Syrian area of Afrin supplying advanced weapons to the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), which control the area, the Assistant to the Secretary of the Russian Security Council Alexander Venediktov told the state-run news agency Ria Novosti.
“The Kurds are being boosted with advanced weaponry. The deliveries of modern weapons and encouragement of separatist sentiments among the Kurds have in fact provoked Turkey into carrying out the military operation in Syria’s northern Afrin region,” the official said.
Ankara launched its military operation against the YPG on January 20. On March 1, the Turkish General Staff released a statement saying that 2,222 ‘terrorists’ had been neutralized since the start of Operation Olive Branch in the Afrin area. Ankara argues that the YPG is a terrorist group and is not going to halt its operations in the area.
Washington’s claims that it has supplied with weapons only the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have not influenced Ankara. For Turkey and all other neutral observers, it’s clear that the SDF is dominated by the YPG and includes some Arab units mostly for propaganda purposes.

Greece spends its NATO quota, but Greece hasn’t deployed its military to assist in NATO operations. Because it’s being saved to help ‘do’ the Turks and restore “Constantinople” to ‘Christendom’.

The issue is that Turkey and Iran are not Syria and Iraq. I mean no disrespect to Syria and Iraq but taking down Iran and Turkey… That’s one hell of a job and won’t be achieved unless US is willing to lose hundreds of thousands of its own soldiers.

My ancestors fought for her, died for her, my relatives already gave their lives in fight against PKK. If necessary I will do the same, and gladly do so. Nope, they actually want to balkanize Syria and surround Damascus controlled territories. So if they sit in Iraq, Jordan and Al Tanf and with the Kurds in the North, Turkey holds Afrin and parts of Idlib and Latakia and Israel controls the Sea and Daraa, Syria is blocked on all sides. They can support guerilla warefare on it forever.
Impossible to hold the North eastern bases as there is growing wide spread protests and dissent in the region opposed to the US presence and large scale disappearances and murders of the protesters, the people are asking questions and the US and Kurds aren’t giving any.
