A Russian service member of the 102nd Military Base in Armenia’s Gyumri was found dead, the Press Service of the Southern Military District of Russia announced on November 26.

In an official statement, the Press Service revealed that the corpse was found by a fellow Russian service member.

“The command commission of the Russian military station of the Southern Military District of Russia and law-enforcement officers are conducting an investigation into the death of the contractual serviceman,” the statement reads.

The Southern District’s Press Service noted that no traces of violence were found on the corpse of the service member, adding that the circumstances of the accident will be cleared soon.

According to Armenian sources, the deceased was a 36-year old contractual service member deployed in the Russian 102nd Military Base in Gyumri.

The accident came as Russia is deploying peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh to implement the November 9 peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The 102nd Military Base in Gyumri is the largest Russian military installation in Armenia. From 3,000 to 5,000 Russian service members, including border guards, are deployed in the country. About 2,000 additional troops will be carrying out the peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh.

RIP.

JIMI JAMES

Landmine the other day?

Lone Ranger

I don’t think so. Sometimes even healthy people die for no obvious reason. Nobody likes to talk about it but it exists. Usually it’s an undiagnosed hearth problem that’s triggered by exhaustion or stress or both.

Fog of War

Of course, 36 year old fit soldiers, in war zones, drop dead suddenly all the time. Natural causes.

Lone Ranger

It happens all the time all around the World, thats life. You know how many youg sporting people drop dead each year in the U.S.? Around 20,000. Most of the hem arent even 30.

Fog of War

How is this an ” accident ” then ?

Lone Ranger

Its a medical accident. Yet to be confirmed tho. Its also not in the warzone but on Armenian territory on a Russian base staffed with Russian soldiers.

Fog of War

Wow, you live in candy land. Whats a medical accident ? Also, Russia has heavily armed troops in a place thats not a war zone ? Butterflies and unicorns.

Lone Ranger

I live in the real world contrary to you… Getting a heart attack is a medical accident for example. An asthma attack is a medical accident too… Armenia is not a warzone, you are mixing it up eith Nagarno-Karabah, that Russian base was there for 30 years, they operate radar stations to expand the southern radar sensor grid of the Russian Federation.

seph

This was in Armenia, not NK.

Coincidence?:)))

occupybacon

I think not. Hotel? Trivago

JIMI JAMES

nup’

occupybacon

What accident?

Fog of War

Amazing , they have the cause of death before an investigation has been conducted. The US military also has this amazing power especially in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

occupybacon

The US soldiers from Iraq are found dead in inconclusive circumstances at Ramstein base, Germany.

JIMI JAMES

Except usa seldom rarely admit they lose a service member, typical bushy/west thing:

Fog of War

Whats ” contractual service member ” ? How is that different from a regular service member ? Are their semantic games being played here ?

JIMI JAMES

Regular within russian borders or contracted outside russian borders.

Fog of War

Thanks, I’ll wait for a Russian opinion on this, not an opinion from a POC.
