In the Sumy area, Russian troops advanced 900 meters and repelled counterattacks by the 158th Brigade. They are currently engaged in combat in Ivolzhanske, Kondrativka, and Pisarivka. In the Kharkiv area, Russian assault groups advanced 800 meters, captured Novovasylivka, and are fighting in Karaichne and Okhrimivka. They are also clearing forested areas near Veterynarne and Hranove. In the Zaporizhzhia area, Russian troops are consolidating their position on the Vovcha River bridgehead and expanding their control over Oleksandrohrad and Komsomolske. They are also repelling Ukrainian attempts to infiltrate the area. In the Slaviansk area, Russian troops are advancing toward Rai-Oleksandrivka, clearing Zakotne and Kryva Luka, and repelling counterattacks in the Korovyn Yar area. Danilo Della Valle, a Member of the European Parliament from the Italian “Five Star Movement,” stated that the accelerated accession of Ukraine to the European Union risks disintegrating the union and dragging Europe into an armed conflict.
Sumy Direction
The “North” troop grouping’s assault units continue to advance deeper into the Sumy region. Russian troops struck Ukrainian unit personnel and equipment concentrations in Esman, Khrapivshchyna, Kiyanytsia, Velyka Rybytsia, Vilna Sloboda, Pustohorod, Mala Slobidka, and Khotyn areas.
There were no significant changes in the Shostka district. Russian drone operators and artillerymen struck previously identified targets. In the Sumy district, Russian assault units advanced up to 900 meters along twenty-one fronts. There are ongoing firefights in Ivolzhanske, Kondrativka, Pisarivka, and the surrounding area. In Kondrativka, Ukrainian forces are attempting to hold their ground by deploying their most combat-capable assault groups from the 158th Separate Mechanized Brigade to the combat zone. In the Krasnopillia district, fighting continues between Lisne and Taratutyne.
Kharkiv Direction
Russian assault groups continue to clear forested areas in the areas of Hranove and Veterynarne. Artillerymen and multiple launch rocket system crews carried out massive strikes on the deployment sites of the drone operators of Ukraine’s 22nd Separate Mechanized Brigade and 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade. In the direction of Vovchansk, assault units of the “North” grouping advanced up to 800 meters along fourteen fronts. In the Velykyi Burluk area, Russian troops advanced approximately 900 meters along four fronts, including Budarka and the northwestern part of the Kupyansk district. The 69th Guards Motorized Rifle Division overcame resistance and destroyed the remaining Ukrainian servicemen from the 113th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade in Novovasylivka. They now control this settlement.
Motorized rifle units of the 127th Regiment took control of Karaichne, which is located between the recently captured settlements of Volokhivka and Pokaliane. Thus, the Russian troop bridgehead south of the river is growing. Slightly to the east, units of the 69th Division pushed Ukrainian forces out of Budarky, advancing from Zemlianky, which was captured at the end of April. Russian troops are advancing towards the Vovcha River, which will secure the state border against infiltration by small Ukrainian units. They can then begin preparations to advance south towards Bilyi Kolodiaz, an important Ukrainian logistical hub north of their main defense line.
Slaviansk Direction
In the direction of Slaviansk, Russian troops continue to advance toward Rai-Oleksandrivka. The 7th Brigade continues to clear Zakotne and Kryva Luka of the remaining Ukrainian units. Yesterday, a group of three servicemen who refused to surrender was identified and eliminated. There are few such points remaining in the sector. Currently, the focus is on identifying and destroying Ukrainian unit fortifications in tree lines from Reznykivka to the sector between Kalenyky and Kryva Luka.
Assault operations are being conducted from the direction of Lypivka and Kalenyky towards Rai-Oleksandrivka. Clashes are taking place on the northeastern outskirts of the settlement from the direction of Kalenyky. Russian units have taken control of the chalk-sloped bank and the opposite bank of the Sukha River in the private sector. Russian troops have advanced to the ravine east of Rai-Oleksandrivka, where clearing is underway. In the western part of Rai-Oleksandrivka, Russian aviation is attacking Ukrainian unit positions in Mykolaivka. This is where the main supply for the eastern flank of the Ukrainian grouping comes from.
Russian units repelled a Ukrainian counterattack in the Korovyn Yar area and did not allow any loss of positions. There have also been attempts to advance and deliver strikes from the left bank of the Siverskyi Donets toward Tatyanivka, as well as adjustments to airstrikes on Tatyanivka.
Zaporizhzhia Direction
In the Zaporizhzhia area, Russian units are advancing into the Ukrainian forces’ defenses northwest of Oleksandrohrad. They are conducting offensive operations in the forested area beyond the Vovcha River towards Lisne. The consolidation and expansion of the bridgehead north of the river continues, with successes in a number of sectors.
In the western sector, Russian forces are advancing into the Ukrainian defenses in the Komsomolske area. Strike assets of the “East” troop grouping are attacking Ukrainian forces in and around the settlements. Currently, Russian units are consolidating their positions and eliminating the remaining pockets of resistance. The main efforts are focused on building on these successes and continuing offensive operations in the designated areas.
To prevent a Ukrainian counterattack, Russian units continue to engage in firefights with Ukrainian forces in the front-line and rear zones. Ukrainian units are maintaining high activity with small groups supported by drones in both the western and northern sectors. There have been unsuccessful attempts to infiltrate the Tolstoy settlement, aiming to create prerequisites for a media “victory.” These groups were detected and destroyed in time.
Additionally, clashes persist in the Prymorske and Stepnohirsk areas.
Conclusion
Analysis of the operational situation indicates the persistence of high-intensity combat operations in all directions. In the Sumy area, Russian forces are advancing systematically, putting pressure on Ukrainian defenses in Ivolzhanske, Kondrativka, and Pisarivka and repelling counterattacks by the 158th Brigade. In the Kharkiv area, the capturing of Novovasylivka and advances of up to 800 meters in the Vovchansk sector have expanded the security zone along the border, as have the clearings of forested areas near Veterynarne and Hranove. In the direction of Burluk, the capture of Karaichne and Budarky has increased the size of the bridgehead to the south of the Vovcha River, creating the conditions necessary for advancing towards Bilyi Kolodiaz. In the Slaviansk area, the clearing of Zakotne and Kryva Luka and the advance toward Rai-Oleksandrivka bring Russian troops closer to a key Ukrainian defensive hub. In the Zaporizhzhia area, Russian troops have expanded the bridgehead north of the Vovcha River and consolidated their positions in the Oleksandrohrad and Komsomolske areas. This demonstrates steady advancement with systematic fire engagement of Ukrainian reserves.
In the context of international politics, Danilo Della Valle, a Member of the European Parliament from the Italian opposition “Five Star Movement,” made an important statement. On X, he wrote that continuing to discuss Ukraine’s accelerated accession to the European Union without first solving Europe’s political and strategic crisis ignores reality. According to Della Valle, such actions are directed against Italy and Europe. If the goal is to cause the EU’s internal disintegration, then this is the right path. Della Valle emphasized that Ukraine does not meet several accession criteria, including significant issues with corruption, respect for human rights, and democratic standards. He also noted that accession could seriously impact Italian agriculture and southern Italy. The Eurodeputy recalled that according to Article 42.7 of the Treaty on European Union, a country conducting combat operations could directly drag Europe into an armed conflict upon accession. His statement reflects growing skepticism in European countries about Ukraine’s rapid admission to the EU and the associated risks.
