The Russian military’s Sever (North) Group of Forces have dealt more blows to Kiev forces in the Kursk direction, killing or wounding over 250 Ukrainian troops.
In its December 1 briefing, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that Ukraine’s 21st, 41st, 44th, 47th mechanised brigades, 17th Heavy Mechanised Brigade, 5th Tank Brigade, 80th, 82nd, 95th air assault brigades, 36th Marine Brigade, 112th, 116th, 117th, 129th territorial defence brigades took heavy losses.
Most of the losses occurred near the settlements of Aleksandriya, Viktorovka, Zazulevka, Lebedevka, Leonidovka, Malaya Loknya, Martynovka, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Nikolsky, Novoivanovka, Plyokhovo, and Sverdlikovo, according to the ministry.
In addition, the ministry announced that Russian air and artillery strikes hit Ukrainian troops and equipment close to the settlements of Bondarevka, Goncharovka, Zaoleshenka, Kurilovka, Nizhny Klin, Nikolayevka, Novaya Sorochina, and Staraya Sorochina in Kursk, as well as near the settlements of Basovka, Belovody, Zhuravka, Miropolye, and Pavlovka in the Ukrainian region of Sumy.
“Over the past 24 hours, the AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] losses amounted to up to 255 troops,” the ministry said, adding that “two armoured fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, and two mortars were destroyed.”
Separately, the ministry released videos showing recent Russian strikes on positions and vehicles of Kiev forces in the Kursk direction.
Kiev forces launched a surprise attack from Sumy into Kursk last August. The Russian military is currently conducting a counter-attack to clear the region.
According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 37,105 troops, 225 tanks, 160 infantry fighting vehicles, 123 armored personnel carriers, 1,204 armored fighting vehicles, 1,063 motor vehicles, 305 artillery guns, 40 launchers, including 11 American-made HIMARS and six MLRS systems, 13 air defense systems, seven transport-loading vehicles, 70 electronic warfare stations, 13 counter-battery radars, four aerial radars, 27 engineering vehicles, including 13 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, six armored recovery vehicle, and one command post vehicle.
