The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on October 11 that the Sever Group of Forces had inflicted heavy losses on several formations of Kiev forces in the Kursk direction.
The 22nd, 41st, 47th, 115th mechanized brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 82nd, 95th air assault brigades, 1st National Guard Brigade, 103rd, and 129th territorial defense brigades took heavy losses close to the settlements of Daryino, Lyubimovka, Tolsty Lug, Novy Put, and Plekhovo, according to the ministry’s daily briefing.
It also said that the Sever Group of Forces repelled five Ukrainian attacks near the settlements of Lyubimovka, Malaya Loknya, Novaya Sorochina, and Kremyanoye.
“As a result, the AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] losses amounted to up to 40 troops killed and wounded; one infantry fighting vehicle, one armored fighting vehicle, and one motor vehicle were destroyed,” the ministry detailed in its briefing.
In addition, the ministry announced that Russian air and artillery strikes hit several gatherings of the 21st, 22nd, 47th, 61st mechanized brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 80th, 82nd, 95th air assault brigades, 1st, 17th national guard brigades, as well as the 103rd, 112th, and 129th territorial defense brigades.
The gatherings were targeted near the settlements of Bondarevka, Goncharovka, Daryino, Zazulevka, Kurilovka, Leonidovo, Lyubimovka, Malaya Loknya, Martynovka, Makhnovka, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Novy Put, Nizhny Klin, Novoivanovka, Orlovka, Plekhovo, Sverdlikovo, Tolsty Lug, and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye.
Other strikes hit the Ukrainian region of Sumy, which borders Kursk, according to the ministry, which said that the reserves of the 21st, 47th, 115th mechanized brigades, 95th Air Assault Brigade, 36th Marine Brigade, 78th Air Assault Regiment as well as the 103rd, and 119th territorial defense brigades were hit near the settlements of Belopolye, Bunyakino, Dibrova, Iskrikovshchina, Katerinovka, Malushino, Makeyevka, Mirlogi, Miropolye, Obody, Pavlovka, Rechki, Stepanovka, and Shpil.
”Over the past 24 hours, the AFU losses amounted to more than 300 troops, 13 units of hardware, including five tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles, five armored fighting vehicles as well as four artillery guns, one MLRS [multiple launch rocket system] launcher, one mortar, one electronic warfare station, and four motor vehicles. One serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine surrendered,” the ministry said.
Separately, Russian media released videos showing some of the strikes that hit Kiev forces in the Kursk direction in recent days.
Kiev forces launched a surprise attack on Kursk last August. Since the start of the attack, at least 56 Russian civilians have been killed and more than 266 others have been wounded. Moreover, the attack displaced more than 144,000 civilians. The fate of some 2,000 others who lived in areas attacked by Kiev forces remain unknown.
The Russian military launched a counter-attack in September. So far, nearly a dozen settlements have been reportedly liberated.
According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 21,900 troops, 144 tanks, 69 infantry fighting vehicles, 98 armored personnel carriers, 897 armored fighting vehicles, 594 motor vehicles, 181 artillery guns, 34 launchers, including eight American-made HIMARS and six MLRS systems, nine air defense systems, five transport-loading vehicles, 47 electronic warfare stations, nine counter-battery radars, three aerial radars, 22 engineering vehicles, including 13 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle and three armored recovery vehicle.
