In the Zaporizhia direction, Russian forces launched an offensive with armored vehicles to expand bridgeheads at Novodanilovka and Malaya Tokmachka. In the Kharkiv direction, Russian assault groups are advancing deep into Ukrainian territory, pressuring Ukrainian units in Ternovaya and Volchansk. The tactical situation in the Kupyansk direction remains difficult, with alternating positions creating a “layered pie.” Meanwhile, Ukrainian units in several areas have fully shifted their logistics to drones.

In the Krasny Liman direction, Russian units from the Zapad grouping continue systematic pressure, forcing Ukrainian forces to withdraw to the Seversky Donets riverbanks in multiple frontline sectors. In the Sumy region, Russian North assault groups expanded their control zone, advancing to 20 sites in the Sumy and Glukhovsky districts while destroying drone assembly facilities. The Finnish Air Force officially confirmed that one unmanned aerial vehicle that crashed in the country on March 29 was a Ukrainian AN-196. Authorities regard this as a violation of Finland’s territorial integrity.

Krasny Liman direction

The Zapad group of troops has been successfully ousting Ukrainian units near Krasny Liman. The most intense and prolonged clashes have occurred in the dense forests on the border between Svyatogorsk and Drobyshevo. Retaining this area allows control of the approaches to important transport hubs. Russian units advancing in this area create conditions for attacks on Prishib. Prishib is important because the main crossings over the Seversky Donets River are located in its vicinity. These routes are used to supply Ukrainian units holding positions in the Red Estuary.

The situation remains dynamic in the urban area of Krasny Liman. Ukrainian units regularly attempt counterattacks to regain lost positions. Some time ago, Ukrainian assault groups made a breakthrough into the Maslyakovka area and captured one of the main buildings.

Despite the Ukrainian units’ local successes in Maslyakovka, the overall strategic situation in Krasny Liman is not in their favor. Russian units of the 25th Army, which is part of the Zapad group, are active not only on the northern approaches but also in the southern part, particularly in the Holy Mountains’ massive park area. This movement threatens to bypass the Red Estuary from the south.

In the coming weeks, Russian units may reach the borders of the Old Caravan and take control of the crossing there. This maneuver would isolate Ukrainian units on the left bank of the Seversky Donets, cutting them off from the main paved roads. If this operation is successful, the Ukrainian units will be forced to switch entirely to using heavy drones for supplies or to use temporary pontoon crossings.

Sumy direction

In the Sumy direction, Russian assault groups from the Northern Group are continuing to engage in active combat, advancing deep into border regions. Russian units are carrying out massive strikes on Ukrainian positions in Luzhkov, Chervonoye, Bublikovo, Esmani, Volnaya Sloboda, and Novaya Sich.

After intense fighting, Russian assault groups advanced in sixteen areas of the Sumy region and four areas of the Glukhovsky district. Over the past day, the total advance of Russian units has been up to 550 meters. These actions aim to create a security zone and eliminate strongholds from which Ukrainian units fire on border territories.

Special attention is being paid to the Shostka district, where violent clashes are ongoing in the border forests. Russian assault groups advanced in three areas up to 200 meters deep. In parallel with the ground operations, Russian units are attacking rear infrastructure. For example, they destroyed a drone manufacturing plant located far from the state border.

In the Krasnopolsky district, Russian assault troops are engaged in intense firefights, steadily pushing Ukrainian forces away from the border. Over the past 24 hours, Russian units have advanced 800 meters in this area. These actions primarily aim to minimize the possibility of Ukrainian units using the border area for sabotage attacks.

Kharkiv direction

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces struck Ukrainian personnel and equipment concentrations in Ternovaya, Verkhnyaya Pisarevka, and Pokalyanoe, as well as in the vicinity of Sosnovy Bor.

In the Volchansk area, the Sever group’s Russian units demonstrated progress in ten sectors, penetrating Ukrainian units’ defensive formations at a distance of up to 400 meters. To hold positions in the Verkhnyaya Pisarevka area, Ukrainian commanders are forced to implement rotational measures, deploying assault groups from the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade to reinforce the demoralized units of the 120th Territorial Defense Brigade.

An attempt by Ukrainian forces to deploy two assault groups to the front line was recorded in the direction of Great Britain. Armored vehicles, including BTR-80s and Kozaks, were used to transport personnel. As a result of the timely detection and subsequent fire action by Russian units, the equipment and Ukrainian soldiers were neutralized.

Dobropillya salient

In the Novopavlovka area, Russian forces’ 150th Motorized Rifle Division continues to fight on the outskirts of Pavlovka. During the clashes, Russian units expanded their control zone along the highway leading to Druzhkovka, which is located west of Novopavlovka. Russian units also advanced south of the village and carried out a sweep of the territory around the local pond and along the beam, improving the tactical situation.

In the direction of Kucherov Yar, Russian forces continue to displace Ukrainian units from their positions in quarries and forest plantations. Ukrainian units actively use this landscape to establish long-term firing points, but Russian units’ consistent actions force them to abandon these positions.

At the Belitsky site, Russian units are processing Ukrainian unit positions on the eastern and southern outskirts of the city. Currently, the southeastern part of Belitsky is in the so-called “gray zone.”

West of Rodinsky, Russian units are fighting to control the territory of the mine while advancing northwesterly along the riverbed. In Rodinsky itself, groups of Ukrainian soldiers captured a number of high-rise buildings and use them as observation posts and sniper positions.

Kupyansk direction

Units of the Russian 6th Army are attacking from Sinkovka. The main clashes are concentrated in the Petropavlovsk area. The line of combat contact has shifted from the southern and southwestern parts of the village, indicating a change in the Ukrainian units’ defense configuration.

The situation to the south and west of this location, as well as in the Podoly area, is characterized by a lack of sustained control by either side. The Russian and Ukrainian units’ positions are chaotic, resembling a “layered pie” where control zones are constantly changing.

A notable aspect of the Ukrainian units’ operations in this area is the near-total absence of traditional personnel rotation. Ukrainian groups in isolated or advanced positions are supplied mainly with heavy Baba Yaga-type drones that deliver provisions and ammunition. Ukrainian units in these positions primarily conduct surveillance and transmit data on Russian unit movements via radio.

The offensive from the Sandy side is led by fighters of the 352nd Regiment of Russian units, whose target is Kurilovka. In the remaining sections to the west and south, the positions remain mixed. Visits by sabotage and reconnaissance groups of Ukrainian units to certain territories are short-term and do not indicate strong control. In the Petropavlovsk area, Ukrainian units (notably the 43rd Separate Mechanized Brigade) hold positions in dugouts and fortified points and rely on drone supplies. Russian drone operators actively work to identify these locations, after which they carry out complex strikes using artillery and aviation.

Zaporozhye direction

In the Orekhovsky sector, Russian units are implementing an offensive plan using mechanized groups on two main attack vectors. The first attack vector runs from the Rabotino area towards Novodanilovka. The second runs from Novokarlovka to Malaya Tokmachka.

These maneuvers aim to reach the outskirts of these settlements and further expand the Russian foothold, increasing pressure on Ukrainian defensive lines in the Zaporizhia region. Using armored vehicles in these operations allows Russian units to quickly cross the region’s open terrain.

There are ongoing positional clashes in the areas of Primorsky and Stepnogorsk. The line of contact remains stable, but there is constant fire and drone activity on both sides.

In the Railway area, Russian Armed Forces units have gained a foothold in new positions and are taking measures to repel counterattacks from Ukrainian units.

Conclusion

In the Krasny Lyman direction, Russian units from the Zapad Group and the 25th Army are successfully using tactics to push Ukrainian forces back to the Seversky Donets. This threatens to cut off their supply lines through Prishib and the Old Caravan. In the Kupyansk direction, Russian units are systematically displacing Ukrainian forces in an effort to gain control of the main logistics hubs. In some areas, logistics routes have already transitioned to the full-scale supply of heavy drones. In the Sumy area, Russian north assault groups are highly active along the border, advancing to numerous sites and destroying Ukrainian units’ drone production infrastructure. Advances in the Kharkiv and Sumy directions, active fighting on the Dobropillya salient, and the beginning of a mechanized offensive in Zaporizhia indicate the complexity of Russian unit actions. Meanwhile, Ukrainian units are shifting their tactics towards remote surveillance and supplying isolated groups with drones, which often leads to instability in their defensive lines.

Amid the fighting in Eastern Europe, there has been an uptick in incidents involving unmanned aircraft in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The Finnish Air Force has officially confirmed that one of the drones that crashed in the country belonged to Ukrainian forces. According to the publication Yle, the incident occurred on March 29. At 8:45 a.m., military experts identified one of the vehicles that fell near the town of Kouvola as the Ukrainian AN196 drone model.

A second flying object was detected in the same area. Currently, the Finnish military has not disclosed ownership information and is continuing to study the wreckage. Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo issued an official statement stressing that the fall of vehicles belonging to Ukrainian units constitutes a serious violation of the country’s territorial integrity.

Notably, similar drone sightings related to Ukrainian operations were reported this week by the official departments of Latvia and Lithuania, indicating the systemic nature of such incidents in the Baltic region’s airspace.
