Russian troops in the special military operation zone in Ukraine have begun to receive a new small drone dubbed “Binokl” with reconnaissance and combat capabilities, TASS reported on January 3.
Dmitry Zubarev, a spokesman for Binokl manufacturer Syomka s vozdukha, told the Russian news agency that the new drone is two to three times cheaper than commercially-available Chinese-made DJI Mavic drones which are widely used by Russian troops.
The Binokl, which was first presented during the Aeronet 2035 exhibition in Moscow in November, can be equipped with a compact thermal imager for reconnaissance and has a grenade-dropping capability. This allows the small drone to detect and attack personnel and equipment along the frontline.
“The deliveries of these Binokl drones have begun. These drones can operate both day and night and the contracts have already been signed. There are few of our devices there [in the special military operation zone] but their number is gradually increasing,” Zubarev told TASS.
The spokesman said that several dozen Binokl drones have been already delivered to Russian troops in the special military operation zone in Ukraine.
Russia ramped up the production and development of drones after the start of the special military operation. Russian-made reconnaissance and combat as well as loitering munitions have been playing a key role in the battle against Kiev forces.

How is starting a war THEN getting into war mode!? What were they doing, intelligence and such, since 2004!? Russia is a failed state. Not so failed like USA, China or the diformity that is EU but failed nonetheless.
They should have that BEFORE going into the military operation, special or not. The teams should have been trained and practice working with them, being molded for the needs on the field etc. Too many good Russian lads lost because of Russian high command indolence.

Those used to assist tank operations now do that. So it is a matter of time until unmanned armored vehicles will form an integrated system with drones of all kinds, on multiple levels of protection.
The only problem is using humans as cannon fodder is easier and much cheaper. As poverty increases, more desperate idiots will risk health (lives and livelyhoods already destroyed) for the wargames of the few.

I told 1 week after 22 of february 2022 (as my well respected Pamfil Military Academy) that russians to achieve success over the phenomenally strong 8 year ukroshit defences MUST have recon drones on every SQUAD in the army. I mean not platoon, but SQUAD. Browse comments back and you will see that. And also that would have saved countless russian lives. Somebody MUST to pay for that lack of vision. But it’s not too late. Saturating the khohol bandera nazi garbage with at least 10 such drones/ kilometer will halve the russian casualties, which is a tremendous achievement. That means 15.000 drones.
