On June 1, Russia’s Ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya confirmed that an agreement, under which Iranian forces and Lebanese Hezbollah will withdraw from southern Syria, had been reached. However, Nebenzya declined to reveal if the agreement is being implemented now.
“As I understood, an agreement had been reached. I cannot say now if it is being implemented … even if the agreement is not being implemented now, it will be in the near future,” the Russian news outlet Sputnik quoted Nebenzya as saying during a press conference.
During the last week, several reports said that Russia, Jordan and the US reached an initial agreement on southern Syria. Reportedly, the agreement will force the Free Syrian Army (FSA) to hand over its positions in southern Syria to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in exchange for an Iranian withdrawal from the area.
Earlier, an unnamed source familiar with the situation revealed to Sputnik that deputy foreign ministers of Russia, Jordan and the US will meet in the Jordanian capital of Amman next week to discuss the “de-escalation zone in southern Syria.”
Furthermore, Israeli Minister of Defense Avigdor Lieberman discussed the supposed agreement with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu during his visit to Moscow on May 31.
Local observers believe that the agreement will shape the future of southern Syria and will allow all sides to focus on the political process in the war torn country.

The facts are facts, but I can’t help but see some wishful thinking in your thoughts. I don’t think the time is ripe to claim the Golan right now. If you understand basic geography, you would know that having the Golan means that one can shell important areas of Israel with great ease and from a strategic, naturally fortified location (high grounds). If Israel loses Golan, it will be the beginning of its end.
Let Asad take over southern Syria and possibly anex golanheights back to the Syrian people.

The agreement does not “sack” Iran/Hezbollah, it merely moves them back from the contact lines. And there will not ever, can not ever, be ” real peace with Israel” because Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt all contain lands which the Israelis believe to belong to “the Jews”. The current arrangements are limited and temporary. Peace with Israel can only commence with the destruction of Israel.

Given that we would agree that many in the pro-government camp want to drive Israel away, it should be obvious that many in Iran would want to continue pursuing anti-Israel agendas in this area.
