Russian and US militaries patrol outskirts of the Syrian city of Manbij, and it is the closest cooperation between Moscow and Washington on a battlefield since the Second World War, the Times newspaper reported.
At that time, in April 1945, Soviet and US militaries met on the Elbe River. Now, they avoid contacts, though are only eight kilometers away from each other, the newspaper noted.
The servicemen patrol villages, located 25 kilometers to the south of the Turkish border, trying to keep the warring sides from fighting. The national flags wave at the both sides.
“In theory, they [Russian and US militaries] were acting as a buffer between rival Kurdish and Turkish-backed militias, they were also demonstrating the new geopolitical closeness between the nations under President Trump,” the newspaper noted.
According to spokesman for the Pentagon, Jeff Davis, the militaries know about the location of each other in the outskirts of Manbij. At the same time, he stressed that the both sides have no desire to enter into a conflict with someone other than terrorists of the Islamic State (IS) group.
The newspaper published a photo, showing US armored vehicles, patrolling the village of Yalanili, located on the outskirts of Manbij.

I still dont know why they are patroling the outskirts of Manbij. The US military was not invited by the Syrian government so its an occupation force. The ISIS forces in the south are being pushed away by the SAA. The only thing i know is that they are not there to help. I hope they leave soon.
They are there as a token force. Neither Russia nor US want Erdogan to screw with SDF around Manbij. This is their mission: To shut down Turkey’s ambitions in area. I say job well done.
